Apartment Review for Villa Las Flores

The pros: The grounds are beautiful, if a little fake and Disneyland. Repairs are done quickly and efficiently. They accept cats. Laundry room is on site.

The cons: The manager is neurotic. She is constantly on the lookout for Rule Violators (gasp) and is very quick to tape a note on tenants doors for violating them. The complex is quiet, which is lovely, but the fascist and obsessive enforcement of quietude by the manager isn t. Even speaking in a normal tone of voice outside one s apartment can earn one a stern talking to. Also, I noticed her yelling at someone the other day for walking their dog on the sidewalk in front of the complex. Crazy! Worst of all, IMO, are the annual inspections. We are inspected annually to ensure we re not being too hard on the apartment *and* that we re not using any room of the apartment as "storage space." Clutter is forbidden, under penalty of eviction. I am not kidding. The lease itself is 20 or so pages, and every single line is enforced.

In short, if you have nowhere else to go, this place will do in the short run. The apartments are lovely and the pool, although ice cold most of the year, is a plus. However, prepare to have your privacy consistently violated and your rights called into question.

If you have another alternative, skip this place! I wish I had!
