Review for Mariposa Apartments

Owner will NOT fix things unless she gets a notice from the city to do so. Part of the reason is that she has scammed every vendor she deals with, finding excuses to not pay them. When we were there and had an electrical problem, the manager had to come out of pocket to pay the electrician, as the owner owed him over 10k at the time and was taking her to court. She is a very wealthy woman, just horrifically cheap.

Another thing: She will advertise at one rent and jack it up the date of lease signing. Security deposit refund? Good luck. She will find all sorts of imaginary costs to deduct you for (and can't back a single one with a receipt that she did it). She will also mail you a backdated notice to make it appear she complied with the 21-day refund law (uh, Lillie, that little postmark thingy on the envelope shows when it was actually mailed). Tried to charge us for carpet cleaning, though the carpet was replaced with new hardwood floor.

Nice apartment overall (though a bit dated). Don't know about the new manager (using outside agents to try to rent vacancies, then screws them out of their fee), but the previous long-term manager was great.
