These people are seriously special. The office staff is terrilbe and rude. They don't give messages to the maintenance department--or they give them to them way late. Yesterday we had maintenance at our door for a problem with a leaky toilet that we reported when I moved in in August 2006!! I had already fixed the problem myself ages ago because they never respond! It took us six months to get a working dishwasher--and it still doesn't really clean the dishes very well. In fact, it's a model that has been recalled but I don't want to go without one again! When we moved in, our drawers and cabinets were all painted shut. I had to pry them open with a screwdriver because the management said it would take a week to get someone out (and I knew they'd never be there!) Our screen door was on the ground--and it's still there. The worst though was this huge hole in the bathroom wall which they refused to fix saying that it "didn't fall under the leasing agreement."
In addition, the security is shitty. I know three people who've been robbed and my neighbor was almost raped. The security guard always stations himself at the front gate--and probably goes to sleep there since he never leaves. There are always homeless people rummaging in the trash--and they have knocked on my door several times for cans.
The laundry situation is my biggest pet peeve though. The laundry room for our building only has one washer and one dryer. The neighbors always leave their clothes in the dryer ALL DAY so you have to either take their clothes out yourself (which I think ios rude) or never get to wash your clothes. In addition, the machine for the laundry cards is in the mail room. The postman locks the door everyday from 12PM to 5PM so you can't get in to put money on your card. I've complained to the manager and he didn't care.
I seriously can't wait to move....
