Archstone as a whole runs a deposit scam. No matter what you do to clean/patch up your apartment they will charge you to repaint $150, clean the carpets $100 and 'sterilize' $100. My place was spotless when I left - I didn't get my deposit back AND had to pay $200 to leave. My friend and his wife had the same experience. His wife wrote a letter to the better business bureau and to Archstone about having to pay for 'cleaning' and they sent her back a check and letter of apology. Don't let them take advantage of you too!
