I moved into Bay Pointe in April and I've had mixed reviews. The writer before me said not to make the mistake of thinking that all these bad reviews are from iresponsible renters with a grudge. Well, that is true, numerous negative things have happened to me, my roommate and other tenants since my move in. I don't want to make this place sound like a complete nightmare, but I've seen better. My car was damaged by hit and run in the parking lot, and my roommates car was broken into with numerous valuables stolen from it. If we are only 2 of the people in this 14 building complex with this luck I would believe this is going on on a much larger scale. One night, I saw a guy steal a bicycle off the balcony across from me at 3 in the morning as I watched from my 3rd story balcony. I called the guy out on it as he was doing it and asked sarcastically if it was his bike. He replied yes and continued to steal it right infront of me as I watched. And, yes, your laundry will get stolen from the machines, it has happened to numerous friends in the complex. They do have security, one guard on duty a night. I don't know how he is suppose to patrol 14 buildings and many more parking lots all at the same time. He doesn't patrol a thing just or prevent thefts, just tells people to quiet down when they are talking on the balconies. Pretty useless in my opinion, he doesn't even have any consistancy on keeping niose levels down in my end of the complex. I have heard the bums sleeping in the hallways story from various people in the building, but I've never seen it with my own eyes. It does happen though due to the lack of locks and proper security measures taken by management. We had cockroaches for awhile, it was really disgusting, my first and hopefully last experience with that, but the new guys across the hall tell me that they have seen them in their apartment lately, so go figure. My shower doors were broken when I moved in any nobody has fixed them in 5 months. Poor lighting in the parking lots probably doesn't help with car thefts, I've seen numerous lights burnt out in the lots for months at a time. Another writer on here said that there is a problem with too many foreigners. Well buddy, you're living 23 miles from the border so you give can up the fact of only seeing Americans. I disagree on too many foreigners, I pretty much only see Brazilian folks here and they are pretty nice. The pool is often cluttered with pretty Brazilian girls and I don't necessarily see that as a problem. And for you girls reading, there are a lot of cute Brazilian guys wearing way too small under the butt nut hut swimsuits for you also to put on the problem list. They shut the water off in the buildings all the dang time on a regular basis, convenient when I'm showering or shaving in the morning before work. Parking availability is sketchy, late in the evening probably won't find a spot in the whole complex which means they issue more parking passes than there are spots. It's not the worst and definitely not the best place to live for $800+ a month. I will definitely not renew my lease next month here at Bay Pointe. The suggestion of chatting with the residents for a 1/2 hour at the hot tub before you sign a lease here is a great plan. I've heard some pretty interesting stories about this place through word of mouth by other tenants. Good things about this place...big pool, 2 hot tubs, tennis/baketball courts which I can use after I move out because the gate is seldomly locked and it's nice that it's located close to the highways 8 and 5. Thats it, happy apartment hunting, I would suggest not pulling over at Bay Pointe to inquire about room availability.
