good news and bad:
bad news:
i have not had a decent shower since i moved here. our water literally goes from all the way cold to ALL the way hot in about .2 seconds. there's nothing you can do, but step out from the water and wait...when it gets hot, turning the water lever all the way to cold will do NOTHING at all other than give you ice cold water when the water decides to turn back to 'normal.' i tried talking to anita about it right when we moved in, but she dismissed it saying i should turn the water as hot as i can stand so it won't get that cold when it fluctuates. i don't think she gets it. literally all the way cold to all the way hot...which isn't quite enough to burn you, but damn close. someone said it had something to do with people using their washing machines, but i've taken a shower at midnight, 2am, 4am...it's always the same. besides lessening my commute, this is the number one reason why i'm excited that my lease is up next month.
we live right across from the old folks home. we weren't really thinking at the time it would be noisy, but IT IS. there are loud trucks in and out at all hours, a parkinglot full of car alarms, and i swear the leaf blower guy is out there before 6am sometimes. so, avoid living by the old folks home.
some of the management has seemed to go out of their way to be rude and incompetent at the same time, but most of that was Destiny, and she's been relocated to another property.
anita said our water sewer trash bill would be like $5 a month (cheap, eh??) when really it's been right around $50 the whole time for our 2 bedroom, which i think is more expensive than at most. not a huge deal, but just another thing we had to budget in.
there's kind of a lack of open parking, and, at the same time, the spaces are so small (typical CA) that any truck/suv/larger car either takes up 2 spots, or makes it impossible for you to open your car doors if it's parked next to you.
good news:
great floorplans, and affordable prices. we live in the biggest 2 bed, which is BIG, and pay right around $1340 a month with utilities and the pet rent. we saw a million other apartments, and this one was by far the most apartment for the least money.
when it really came down to it, i could talk to x's bosses' boss and the job would get done
they only didn't adhere to their 48 hour service garuntee once, and that was because Destiny didn't fill out the paperwork. i did get a rent credit, but only after having to call and be all disgruntled about the standing water cesspool right outside my door. the maintence guys are really nice and have often gone out of their way to fix things that they didn't even know were broken until they entered the apartment, rather than telling me to fill out a work order.
the grounds are usually almost completely free of litter and are well maintained.
they have a tot lot for my son, and it really does seem family friendly here...not too many crazy parties, etc etc.
overall, recommend...if you can stand the rush hour commute.
