Apartment Review for Archstone

We rented here for six months. The apartments are really spacious but extremely expensive. The parking is horrible, if you leave and are not back by 9 p.m. your most likely going to have park on the street, for the amount of rent that you pay this shouldn't be an issue. When it came time to renew our lease, they finaly gave us a quote one month before the lease was up. When we got the new rates, they increased the rent 300 to 400 dollars. The management staff beat around the bush on any questions reguarding your apartment. When moving out they took most of our security deposit. We cleaned everything that was on the move out check list. When i asked payroll why they had charged us for cleaning costs that they deducted from our deposit, she said they charge the tenants for the cleaning cost regardless if they cleaned the apartment or not. When i suggested to her that i was better off not cleaning the apartment she aggreed and laughed. Before we even moved out we were told that the cleaning cost was optional. That we could clean the apartment or pay them and they would clean it them selves for a certain amount. At no time were we told that there would be cleaning costs regardless. I had to argue with the payroll accountant for her to issue me the proper amount of the deposit that i was entitled to. When moving out they were trying to charge us for a double water bill for dates that were after our lease had expired;and they took it out of our deposit. Also when paying your last months rent, make sure you hand it directly to the accountant, cause if you drop it in the drop box their going to charge you a late rent charge, which is bull. So make sure you check everything when moving out. Its sad that we had to double check there work and find so many errors.
