In reply to complaints about excessive breakins to cars in the garage they say they don't provide security. The patrols are called "courtesy patrol" because they are for letting in tenants that are locked out and reporting things to management for management's benefit, not the tenant's benefit. The management is rude to tenants probably as part of their plan to keep turnover high to evade rent control, which is more of a benefit to tenants the longer they stay. Similarly, they do not maintain the appearance of the place. The fire alarm system has failed repeatedly and they have not obeyed a 2005 order of the SF Fire Dept. to repair it and bring it up to code requirements. The units are reasonably quiet since the place is built of concrete but the landlord does not go after the bad tenants that make lots of noise. The location is between the ocean, about 1/4 mile away and a lake. It is scenic but in the Summer it is overcast with fog and about 55 deg F almost all the time. Salt in the moist air rusts your car and everything else made of metal. Because there are many outside doors and they are not maintained well, it is easy for criminals to get into the place. This was at one time a nice property but the current owners have let it run down.
