Kimberly Woods is located down the street from San Jose City College and is nearby multiple Light Rail stations. The Crestwood Center is a community medical facility that is minutes from the complex. The neighborhood is populated with various grocers that provide for different needs; the standard Safeway and Whole Foods Market are both about a mile away, and Down To Earth Nutrition and Zanotto's Family Market are also within the vicinity. Tenants from 2013 have voiced discontent with the new management, citing the staff's unresponsive behavior and the ground's unkempt nature. However, one reviewer found the staff to be friendly and the patio living-area to be a great outdoor facility.

The Redwoods at North Park resides in a safe community surrounded by multiple Light Rail stops on North 1st Street and Tasman Drive. The complex is just next door to the San Andreas Regional Center that serves to help those with developmental disorders and is also well equipped with two community parks: Moitozo Park just along the building and River Oaks Park right across Zanker Road. Restaurants that are under 2 miles away include Banana Leaf, which serves Malaysian cuisine; Loving Hut with Szechuan style dishes; and Piatti Ristorante & Bar, known for friendly service and authentic Italian. Tenants are pleased with the facilities provided, including a clean pool and hot tub, but some have complained about poor cell phone service.
