Review Title:   Looks Good On Outside, But Isn't On Inside

This is my second year at Avalon Rosewalk. Unfortunately, I am not pleased with the situation. The leasing associate, who is no longer with the company, did a great job at first. She filed everything correctly and was friendly and prompt. From the day we moved in, everything went downhill.

The first problem we experienced was with the move-in/walk through checklist. A few of the items took more than three weeks and two visits to the office to correct: a screen door for the patio door, paint touch-ups, and a carpet cleaning (it was filthy).

The second problem we had is a recurring issue. Over the Thanksgiving holiday in 2005, we had family in from out of town. Little to our knowledge, a new "family" was also coming - ants. Ants were crawling up my table during dinner and while we were making dinner. Least to say, I had throw out more than $150 worth of food in my pantry because of the ants nesting in it. The apartment's response was to have an exterminator come out, free of charge. However, the exterminator uses a toxic spray; I had to pay to have my cats placed in a kennel for the day as well as staying away from my own home for at least eight hours. So, it cost more than $150 of food - boarding fees and shots for my animals and time spent chasing down the critters. It took more than 3 months for the ants to leave.

One would think this problem was fixed - it was not. It is 2006 and the ants are back in full-swing. The only positive is that I know not to leave my food in the pantry, as most people would normally do. The apartment is coming back and leaving a gel. We'll see how well this works.

The neighbors upstairs are rude for two reasons: dumping old bird seed on my balcony and stomping at all hours of the day. It took more than three complaints for the apartment to contact the neighbor, who then left a note on our door stating that they would rather us contact them than the apartment office. The stomping still happens; it will not stop because the "security patrol" is never seen at night (these are the people to call after hours).

Basically, any time that I have contacted the apartment office, I either have to leave a detailed message describing the problem or speak with an associate who is rude. The manager is friendly, although she does not teach the same manners to her employees. My recommendation is not to live here. I lived at Avalon Blossom Hill before Rosewalk and it was not quite as bad. Yes, the maintenance workers were slow, but not as slow as Rosewalk's; however, we never had any insect problems and the locale is much better.
