I have lived here for almost 3 years now and the rent has gone up $100 every lease renewal for my 1 bedroom.
For almost $1400 a month, you get to pay for your own water and garbage. The heater/ac box is circa 1985 and extremely loud. The other appliances are also as old, but luckily for me they died out and were replaced fairly quickly with appliances from about the 1990's. You also get the luxury of formica countertops, a dingy ugly fireplace, and a bathroom abundant with mold if you don't leave the fan on 24/7, especially in the winter.
The security gate is just an illusion. It is very easy to get inside if you forgot your remote, or if you don't live there. There has been the occasional car break-in, but overall I haven't seen much police action here.
I do have to say the leasing staff is responsive, and the maintainence people are even better. Vince, Santos and everyone are great.
This is going to be my last year here. I would stay if the rent was reasonable for what you are getting.
