Review for Islander Apartments

I have lived at The Islander Apartments in Santa Ana almost 2 years and my cars have been broken into 3 times. Evertime nothing of considerable value was stolen. Most of the residents have had their cars burglarized at least once usually over items of marginal value (car insurance cars, auto registration, childrens toys, CDs, flashlights..they even broke into a car and stole a bible once).

Santa ana Police is useless they never patrol this area because it is on the border of Garden Grove and Orange. I do see Garden Grove police drive by regulary passing by but this is out of their jurisdiction and your could probably walk down the street with an assualt rifle they would drive by as long as you dont cross the bridge into Garden Grove.

Also balls from the nearby gold course fly by regualry and I was almost hit once one hit the car next to mine on another occasion. The golf course took down the netting over a year ago and when I complained to them about liabilites for property damage or personal injury or wrongful death they didnt seem very concerned they seemed to think it is the golfers resposibility.

There are also homeless people and addicts camping out under the bridge on the golf course property. Santa Ana Police thinks it is Garden Grove's jurisdiction and Garden Grove thinks it is Santa Ana's problem.

If you dont mind having your car windows broken and your stuff stolen once or twice a year otherwise its a charming quiet place with nice neighbors. I plan to to leave as soon as I can find another place in Orange County that accepts dogs for a reasonable rent.

Almost everyone I have spoken with has had $50 rent increases every 6 to 12 months so plan on paying more once your initial lease expires.
