I rented here and had no problems until I was laid off this year. The apartment complex not only refused to let me out of my lease due to the unfortunate circumstances, but demanded not 1, but 2!! months' rent as penalty for breaking the lease. Nobody in the 20 years I've been renting has ever demanded more than 1 months' rent for breaking a lease early, regardless of the circumstances. I think this is a horrible way to treat your tenants and sends an extremely negative message to potential renters.
