Review for The Montclaire Apartments

There is constant noise, which reached a fever pitch the last 2 months of our tenancy due to construction, so they could justify inflating rents dysproporionately. Construction workers were rude and intentionally loud (laughing, yelling) and management did nothing about it despite reports. However, even when there is no construction, you can count on the maintenance crew to drum up some kind of noise early in the morning, be it a rattling trash can they cart through the complex at 7 am daily or the jack hammer they use right outside your window on Saturday morning at 6:45 am. The walls are paper thin. The establishment is like a slick car salesman who only care about the sale and once you're locked in, don't care about your experience. Virtually no direct sunlight reaches the apartments and the windows give no security, as the locking mechanism is inadequate. The damp air and lack of adequate ventilation grows black mold all over the apartment at an astounding rate. The laundry facility is overpriced, inadequately maintained, and does not properly clean your clothes. The water is of especially poor quality, as the pipes are 30+ years old and causes sediment in the water; a water filter we used that should not need replacement for 3 months lasted only 2 weeks. You can even see the discoloration at times. In fact, due to the shoddy pipes, the water was frequently turned off for repair. There is no recycling on the premises. Several cars were broken into while we were there. Often the primary security concern seemed to be making sure you were out of the hot tub before it was actually time to close the hot tub. The hot tub was often broken or dirty, which took several reports and multiple weeks before anything was done to fix it. They do not keep the appointments they make when you're moving out to check the apartment so they can justify keeping a larger portion of your deposit. They are dishonest.
