Review for The Montclaire Apartments

The Montclaire looks good on the surface but once you sign the lease, everything changes.
Management: They down right lie to you before you sign the lease. After, you are lucky if they give you the time of day. They act bothered when you go into the office. They are rude if you have a complaint or problem or just need to pick up a package. Often, the office is closed early for the day or during the day because they don't have the staffing to have it open and show an apartment to new renters. They are only interested in making money, not the well being of their tenants.
- Noise: Even AFTER the construction was over (before I signed they said it would be over in 3 weeks and it took 6 months). Noisy neighbors, paper thin walls, loud music, children running around the ground and hallways screaming unattended. The maintenance workers making all kinds of noise every morning at 7am with trash and using the leaf blower twice a day.. don't rent if you have small children, they will never get a nap in during the day.
- Mold: Management KNOWS about the black mold problem. One of their "inspectors"(their cleaning lady)warned me about how dangerous the mold is for children, they just did an inspection they have documented it but aren't doing anything about it. All the windows have black mold because of poor ventilation and the fact that the windows leak both air and water. I now have mold growing on the ceiling in one bedroom and on the wall in one bathroom. I clean the windows and walls with bleach every week and it still comes back.
Storage: There is none. They have 2 nice walk in closets in the bedrooms but no linen closets, no coat closets, not even a place to put a mop and broom. Don't try to put it out on your balcony, you will get a nasty letter from management. Even if your balcony is neat and tidy!

Amenities: The pool and spa are closed until further notice. They say they have to remoldel them because of a change in the law, but they close them 2 months every winter and didnt do one thing to fix them! When asked, management refuses to tell you if and when the pool and spa will reopen. They are even advertising on new rentals that they are open and available but they are not. More lies!

I could go on and on. I don't recommend this property. If you do rent here, check the prices DAILY. One day the rent is $1900 the next it is $1350 for the same apartment. Don't get ripped off.
I am moving at the end of this lease.
