This place has been a great place for me to live for the past three years. The management has always been prompt to fix any issue I've had, though not much has come up.

Have now been here a full year and wish I had made the move years ago! Windward Village Apartments, with its close proximity to the beach, allow one to experience the unique Venice Beach scene including the shops, amusement, vendors, people-watching, restaurants,etc... How great is it to be a stone's throw from the beach and live in a nice, clean building? The excellent up-keep is completely attributed to the friendly staff (with an open-door office policy) including Karen (Manager), Roy (Head of Maintenance and much more), and the rest of the crew. A building in such a great area does not alone make a tennant's stay complete. The mamagement staff can make or break the desire to remain at a complex. Their response to any problems that arise are dealt with very quickly and efficiently. They are also different in that one can approach them (Karen, Roy,..) easily, simply to say hello and get a friendly smile despite the large amount of work they all have to do. Again, the great beach location coupled with the excellent staff would have me suggest to a friend/family member to reside at Windward Village Apartments!

This is a great place to live and enjoy the Venice Beach community. I have enjoyed living here at Windward Village for nearly two years now and enjoy it so much. My "neighbor" (not much of a neighbor at that)-- who thank god is moving. Told me he posted a going away stab at the manager. I had to check out his "rant". I've heard this guy tell me the manager told him at least three times not to leave his trash in the halls, not to clean his wetsuit in the jacuzzi, not to take other people's parking spacesfor his friends and not carry on late at night at the pool. The manager Karen really looks out for her tenant's "peaceful enjoyment" in this complex. I've also seen notices posted on this guy's door for not paying rent. Of course he blames Karen and dissed on her due to problems of his own making. I for one am glad that the management is competent, consistent and professional. Karen and her husband are well liked by the majority of tenants who appreciate their efforts. Helpful, pleasant, professional, and quickly responding to any maintenance and repair issues should they arise. This complex is like a lovely oasis in the "Wild West" of Venice. Don't let the irresponsible whiners scare you away. Try it for yourself and see what a cool place this is to live in.

This place is great. Parking, maintenance, security(some problems but hey a lock and footpatrol is only keep an honest man honest). If it is broken it is going to get fixed. Those who complain about the maintenance probably fall into area of this conversation I over heard in the office.
Tenant - My kitchen faucet is leaking really bad
MGR. - What apartment?
Tenant - XXX
MGR. - (over radio) Maintenance can you stop apt. XXX? We have a leak.
Maintenance - Be there in a few minutes handling another problem
Tenant - (Angrily) I need someone now, it has been leaking for 4 months and now it's really bad.
MGR. - Oh, I'll get on those guys they should have fixed it by now.
Tenant - Oh, i never called it in.
MGR. - This is the first time you've notified us? Well how bad is bad?
Tenant - Carpet is soaked and now it is leaking into the hallway.
MGR. - YOu've now about this for 4 months?
Tenant - Yea, why can't someone come right now?

Now I ask you why didn't this person leave a message 4 months 4 days ago 4 a hours ago before it was an emergency? This type of thing seems to be the norm for everyone I've ever heard complain in the building. If you don't want to talk to her leave a vmail, they will respond. I have never had a problem in 12yrs.

Right by the beach and friendly staff. The only reason I'm not currently living there is my job moved to far away and the commute was unbearable

My significant other and I lived there for two years and just loved it. The manager Karen and her husband take terrific care of the buildings and the tenants. It's very close to the boardwalk, which we liked.

I'm from NY and this feels so relaxed! My place is small but compared to my Manhattan shoebox, ths is great. I like my neighbors. The managers work hard and are helpful. Nicely shrubbery, bar-b-qs, pool, PARKING! Yep, until I buy a house, this is gonna be home.

I am moving but hate too. I've lived here for several years and my wife is pregnant and we need more room, but it's been fantastic. Staff is great. I wouldn't worry about some of these other reviews. Probably someone who didn't pay their rent or wanted help screwing in a light bulb.

I've lived in Windward Village now for almost a year, and I love it! Granted, some of the complaints here are true. It can be noisy if you live on the Venice Way side - (but I do, and all of the other perks make it worth a little noise!) - and the manager can be a bit grumpy from time to time, BUT that said... WHERE ELSE IN L.A. can you find a clean building that's 1 BLOCK from the beach WITH A SPARKLING POOL, JACUZZI (that hardly anyone uses), amazingly clean BBQ area, and parking for such low rent??! I really do think this place is a steal!! I've lived in several apartments in L.A. and none of them were worth the price. This one definitely is!!!

It is such a relief to have a parking space waiting for me when I come home - only a block from the beach. I really appreciate it on the weekends when the beach is busy. The manager is always there and they have seen to my needs when I've asked. The place could use a painting, but it's a great value compared to the prices in Marina del Rey only a few short blocks away. We got a new maintenance guy and he follows through as promised. The new janitor is great. There is always something being upgraded somewhere in the building. We got a new pool about a year ago.

I just had to give my notice after being here for years. The rent is getting too high, and I'm sorry to be leaving. Everything on the Westside is getting crazy expensive but living here has been great. The guys who work here always fixed my stuff, the manager works really hard with everything always going on around here. I read some of these other posts and they're really off the wall. I've heard people speak to her and she keeps her cool. They put a new pool in about a year ago, they're always fixing things. Sure things happen but it's not the management's fault. I've owned houses and things break and you gotta fix them. It has been really hot this year though. Wish I could have had an air conditioner. But all in all, compared to other places I've lived, this place was top notch and the location is hard to beat.

I was searching for a new place when I ran across this listing - my old home! I can't afford to live there anymore and so sorry I left. I read this stuff about the manager, but WOW! Sounds like a vendetta. I loved her and her husband. They were really nice to me. I heard a lot of the bull she took and it amazed me how she daily put up with people's silly complaints. I worked in the office for a short time and man if anyone ever actually saw what they go through in their office, they'd keep their mouth shut. I don't know how she does it by herself everyday. And I think she and her husband have been there for years. They do a good job. I wish my other managers were as professional and took care of things the way these people do. I guess when you have over a hundred apartments like here, there's bound to be a few bad apples who probably didn't pay their rent!

This is an awesome place to live. I miss it everyday. I never had any of the problems. The place was always taken care of and the manager was nice. I think she was from back East. She told people like it was. Guess they didn't always like that. The pool was a dream. It was nice not to have to take my clothes to the laundry across the street. And I could walk to the bank, the coffee shop,, the post office. I'm getting nostalgic....

Kind of nice ... just ... nobody takes care of it. They got rid of sauna. Few landry machines and dryers. It's in general dirty. The reconstruction of the pool took 5 months (while the manager claimed "6 weeks"). She is a real b*tch, by the way. She is NEVER in the manager office. Even if you call emergency number, nobody answers. It seems like we have no rights, but only dues.

There are problems with termites and ants.

Great location. Nothing like it in Venice. Studios are spacious and livable. Parking is not bad if you are able to get an apartment in the garage or in the gated portion.

Has a pool and a hot tub, and community gas grills... however, they have been non-existent since the end of last summer (2004). Management has said was supposed to take 6 weeks. Still looks like downtown Beruit (6/2005). Warning -- don't ask the manager about the pool situation, or anything for that matter. Not the nicest person (being kind). What is interesting is that her husband who does the minor maintenance is very cordial and polite.

If you run into any residents while on the tour, make sure they tell you about Flo. She's a stapple at Winward Village. Makes for funny stories to tell your friends.

For Venice, this place has all the amenities except a nice manager. There is a heated pool and jacuzzi, gated parking, spacious well-lit units and high ceilings (on the 3rd floor). And you are within walking distance of the beach and Venice boardwalk.

There are problems with termites (3rd floor), flooding (1st floor), noisy buses, no guest parking, thin walls, ants, gangsta tourists, and a b*tchy manager. This woman is so unpleasant that I avoid calling her at all costs.
