Review for Bristol Village Apartments

Sadly decided to move because of American Communications, their exclusive provider of phone/internet/cable. If you want fast internet look elsewhere, paid $40/month for DSL with dial-up slow speeds. With the exception of technology, this is a great place to live, for the most part.

Overall, the staff can be rude at times (especially the manager), but I love working with the ladies that staff the weekends; if you have to deal with anyone in the leasing office, deal with them. The maintenance staff is great! I can call the office and they'll have someone here usually within an hour, even on the weekends. Maintenance guys here truly care, they are friendly, honest, and clean - you don't get that at many places.

Appearance overall has declined slightly over the years. Common areas only get cleaned once every 6 months or so. When I first moved here they had good tenants that helped keep the place clean. Slowly but surely those tenants are being replaced by slobs that don't care.

Crime is high in the area (I work in the area), so the crime at these apartments is lower than that of the area, but still slightly higher than my level of comfort. There was an isolated murder here April, 2006; fortunately it was clearly not random, a man was fatally shot inside his apartment. Our mailboxes get broken into periodically; cars get broken into frequently, and one day I saw a nice car up on blocks with all four wheels stolen off of it.

Reason number two I am moving. When I moved here I was the first tenant of an apartment. I kept it beautiful and pristine, nothing wrong with it. I got a roommate and had to move, they charged me a $100 transfer fee to move from my pristine apartment to this crappy one that clearly someone had either thrown up all over, or been shot inside (there was brownish red on all the mop boards in the kitchen), the windows don't open or close well, it was clearly trashed by the previous tenant. I PAID $100 to move here?!? I can't imagine what will happen if I pay another $100, I'll probably get one someone had a lab inside. j/k.

American Communications: you have to wait on hold for >30 minutes before they drop your call, and you call back and wait another 30 minutes. When I switched apartments and needed my stuff transferred they kept missing appointments, until I literally cried on the phone to a representative! They are the worst company I have ever dealt with in my life. In a separate incident they once accused me of file sharing after my computer was compromised by hackers (I hate to admit I was pwned, but I was). Instead of telling me this they just kept shutting off my internet. Then one of the last times they came to "fix" it, they unlawfully searched my computer (I'm a h4x0r, I figured out what they did), I never pursued legal action, but should have. Before they would turn on my internet again they made me sign a User Agreement. It wasn't until I had a heated argument with the tech, they finally told me that there was excessive traffic. I had to search my own tcpdump logs, to discover that I had been hacked (they are clueless!). They are just the worst ISP that I was FORCED to deal with.

Back to the apartments themselves, overall, I would recommend Bristol Village as a nice place to live! Bottomline if it wasn't for the exclusive provider contract on the internet I would live here again in a heartbeat.
