BEWARE: Police Dept Told Me They Are Here Every Day

I cannot believe this complex has a rating of 52%. Should be more like 25% based on how it has devolved since I first moved here 10 years ago. The changes in management has meant they started allowing anyone and anything to rent here to keep down inventory. Peace- and lawbreakers overrun the complex, and management panders to them while ignoring those of us who keep the peace and abide by the rules and regulations, including state and local laws/ordinances: Drug dealers/users are present (one even made the news), folks making out loudly in the pool at 2AM, a dog owner tossed its pet's feces in the trash can in the mailroom, physical fights and loud arguments in the wee hours of the morning; and a Peeping Tom was permitted to remain employed by them until he stole tenant files. Management's favorite line is "I'm sorry," if that. Maintenance: HA! My unit had a leak after a major snowfall in 2003 and my ceiling and wall were never restored properly. The stains are still present, and the paint is still "draping" down the wall pulled by the leakage; and it is cracked. It looks really bad, but it is clear they do not care. Also, they have violated their own lease agreement by entering my apartment without prior notice; threw away weeks of my mail which they considered as worthless as trash since they stored it in a trash bag leaving it for maintenance to throw away; and during a recent inspection, they ignored the fact that something black is growing under the vinyl flooring around my toilet. Also, they no longer take care of snow and ice removal on stairs and landings before I must leave for work in the mornings (7:15-7:30). I could continue, but there's no point. Having worked in the industry for several years in the past, Altamira has earned a failing grade when it comes to ensuring the quiet enjoyment and safety of its tenants. Why do I not move? I am totally alone and my income is inadequate to find a secure and safe place to live. Altamira has taught me that if you are poor in Colorado Springs, you are considered undeserving and worthless, not having the same rights as those who are blessed with more.
