Review Title:   Serious Problems

lived there for close to 10 years. Until about 9-11 months ago, it was a very nice place to live. The management team was professional and competent. The place was a nice place to live. Then last year, the complex went into serious decline. The blame lies squarely with the new management team. Personal feelings can enter any diatribe. So in an effort to be objective, I will list only the facts: Pet friendly? I do not think so. Many dogs are not kept on a leash, and one dog was attacked by another dog, resulting in stitches. Residents are constantly having dogs jump on them in the lobby and elevators. The elevators are dangerous. Twice an elderly woman was stuck in one of the elevators, and once had to be pulled out by her arms (July 13, 2003, 5:32 PM). This was after 40 minutes waiting for help. Management never acknowledged the problem. That elderly woman is my mother. The noise problem is out of control and management is unable to solve the problem. The people above me smoked marijuana so much that the odor drifted down to my apartment via the balcony. I had to file a police report due to the excessive noise. My dying cat would move from room to room trying to escape the noise above. Not so pet friendly. There have been police cars in front of the building several times lately. I had a floor mat stolen in front of my door. While the views could be great, garbage of some sort is thrown off some of the balconies, so on the north-west side the windows are constantly filthy. I have pictures of the mess on my windows. Rents are not fairly assessed. Some people pay much more than others, no reason given. I do not think I was one of those affected, but I have heard stories in the exercise room, the elevator, and at the parties. Then one starts thinking about his/her own rent. That discrepancy in rent could be in violation of housing laws. There is a reason there are so many vacant apartments there (higher than the Denver average). I now live in what I think is a splendid apartment in the same neighborhood. It has a far superior floor plan, a prettier view, a huge brick fireplace, an indoor swimming pool and sauna, clean exercise room, and better parking. The building is much cleaner, is quiet, and has a professional and capable management team. And for $330.00 a month less. No place is perfect, but when one pays a substantial rent one expects some quality and performance. If you have an animal, there dozens of places nearby that take pets. Check out Rent.com for a complete listing of apartments in Denver. There is a severe bug problem in the Towers. Some sort of flying insects (management says they are clean, healthy flies) cover the windows and floor from early autumn until mid-winter. It is revolting. Management wants to have high rents, but they can not fix the problems. Also, some of the apartments are not on the back-up generator. So, when there is a power outage, and there seems to be quite a few there, some apartments can not get any lights for a substantial amount time. Management could not answer if those apartments are protected on the fire alarm system.
