Review Title:   Don't Be Fooled By The Outside

This is by far the worst place I have ever lived! First of all, I put a deposit on an apartment with a city view. However, when I moved in, I was given an apartment that faces away from the city and completely on the other side of the complex. When I asked the management about it they said that said at this point, since I had already signed the lease, there was nothing they could do about it. Which brings me to my next point, the management staff is very rude and do care one bit about the residents of this apartment. I have gone to the office twice during office hours when they were supposed to be open but they were closed. One of the office staff even told me the wrong month that my lease ended and so I was stuck paying an extra month of rent plus extra month to month fees. When I tried explaining this to the management he did care at all and basically said oh well. This is a bad neighborhood and so you might think that they might at least be somewhat concerned about security. However, they said that they do not have to provide security and therefore it is not their problem. At night I am constantly awakened by arguments, the "controlled access gate" opening and closing all hours of the night, gun shoots, and people just shouting at the top of their lungs for fun. One night I was awaken by the police taping off a crime scene, another day I look out my balcony to watch the police chase and arrest some guy, and that's just the beginning of it. My rent is $575 but to my surprise, I am paying a little over $700 a month for a small one bedroom apartment. That does not even include my cable or electricity. One of the extra fees not included in the rent is parking. At first they make it sound like you will have your own parking space and that if you don't have a parking pass that they will tow your car. However, any and everybody gets into this complex and parks where ever it is convient. The elevators and very slow and always dirty. The grounds are kept fairly clean and so it appears to be a nice place to live on the outside. But trust me, you can't judge a book by its cover. If you are going to spend a bit more money on rent, don't do it at the Overlook. Living at this apartment is a big waste of money.
