I am a current resident at the Mezzo. I understand the not so perfect things at The Mezzo...its a old building of course! The the thing that kind of bugs me though is the way you are treated by the office staff. I work in long term stay hotel buisness and understand how you would expect to be treated by office staff. Even though its a hotel, yes and we have to be a bit more hospitable, we establish relationships with these people that are with for long periods of time...its basicly there second home! I dont mind issues that arise within the building, again I understand! Its just the office staff could be a bit nice. Maybe then if you go to a wesite like this then you wont see more negative then positive. Maybe then you wont have a high "turn over rate". I am not trying to single anyone out I am not trying to Bash The Mezzo...just giving you something to think about.

Obviously the majority of people who get on an online apartment rating site will be nothing but negative bashing about their "absolute worst experience on this planet earth"... so all i have to say in response to all the ney-sayers is: if your expecting nothing but a posh, hand feed, silver plater, valet parking, grape feed high life... go buy a fu***** house! everyone has these irrational complaints about how they occasionally hear their neighbors, the elevator is dirty, the staff must have been recruited by Nazi's! ....Your renting for a reason, not only are you renting in a premium location; your renting in one of the greatest cities on the self centered world you life in. the reason you live here is because you are close to work, school or to be immersed in an amazing city atmosphere. I moved here to be close to school and eliminate all commuting in the Denver area. I have a studio on the top floor with a downtown and mountain view, which is completely remodeled and brand new. It's cheaper than my previous; 1980's style one bedroom in Littleton which came with bottom of the barrel class citizens who's day/night consisted of meth, crack, weed and Canadian Mist, all while raising six kids who played by the dumpster or parking space B608 keeping you up till 3 in the morning...just remember Sh$t can always be worse, and renting will always be "renting" deal with it. Appreciate the positive and don't always focus on the negative. The Mezzo is a great place to live, don't let bad reviews have any effect on your decision.
P.S. To the douche who complained about the smell in the elevator, here is a link you might be interested in. www.yankeecandle.com Since you like writing pointless complaints so much write them a suggestion about how they should install automatic air fresheners in that thing, I mean...it only makes since, I think i saw a stain on the carpet on floor 6 too... wonder who I can complain to

Parking in the city sucks everywhere, I have never had my car broken into or even scratched (and I wouldn't dare park it over by the metro apt area every one i know has a car broken into over there, so this street parking is ok. Come on people this is a city Duh!). The walls are cinderblock so your neighboors have to be reeeeeally loud to hear them. Most people that I have met are very helpful and nice. Im not sure what the refernce to the sign's in windows are but I am pretty sure that they are the college students doing what they do. I have met a variety of people here. I have heard of only one shooting and it was 3 blocks away so I am not sure what anyone is talking about with that. And I have never heard the club, I know it is kind of trashy but what clubs aren't? For the price this is nice.

I have lived here only a short amount of time and already I've discovered that most of the other reviewers are correct: this place sucks. The staff and a good chunk of the residents are completely stuck up. Forget about complaining to the office. Whatever your complaint, you will be met with a rude response. The new "cyber lounge" is completely useless. The computers are always taken by ******** who have no common courtesy. I've spent at least half an hour waiting for self absorbed brats to finish looking at pictures of themselves on myspace before I've gotten a computer, every time. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything your neighbors are doing and vice versa. Many of the gay people in this building are absolutely trashy and make me feel ashamed to be a part of the gay community. I literally can not look out of my window without seeing signs in other residents' windows soliciting for sex, such as "active tops/ active bottoms" and "sugar daddy". I’m not making this stuff up. Parking is an absolute nightmare. I've already received two tickets in two hour parking when my car had been there no more than five minutes over the limit. At least one of the three elevators is ALWAYS broken, so expect to spend a good amount of time waiting for an elevator. The stairs are basically not an option because they look like they’ve never been cleaned and are stained with puke and ****. The apartment itself is the only thing that I'm satisfied with, but all of the other annoyances make living here extremely unpleasant... So basically I would recommend this place if you like conceited people and want to live somewhere that sucks ***.

so i moved in a little over 4 months ago thinking i got a great deal on my place. Well after living there and meeting new people i realize i was robbed, I pay a good amount of money to be able to hear every drunk person that comes out of dc 10. I know people that pay almost the same as me for a higher app. and dont hear anything. they will give you a good deal but i guess if you're young they will take advantage of you. i highly suggest putting up a fight for the price they give you, from what ive been told..they will bring it down.

right before i moved in, i was told it was a great place, great security, "Cement walls" so you cant hear neighbors. okay well security absolutely sucks, and i can hear the people next to me (very well) at night when i try to go to bed. parking is a nightmare, i've lived downtown before off 7th and washington and that was perfect!!

the staff is whatever, i love mimi and lisa..they're the best, the rest of the girls are just rude.

the people IN the building arent particularly nice either. i have ran into some, but most are pretty stuck up.

as good as any other...

With all due respect for others' experiences here, I am not really bothered by all the remodeling going on. Yes, it's a pain in the butt, but I knew this would be going on when I signed the lease, and mgmt never said it would be done by x date... this stuff always takes a long time, but it's looking better all the time. About the bed bugs - that sucks! I hope they compensated you in some way for your huge inconvenience, but I am thankful that they are judicious with the pesticides - I'd rather not have my apartment fumigated prophylactically. About the asbestos - if you are talking about asbestos located in places other than what is contained in the ph, I sincerely hope you have acted on that information.

As far as the staff, I feel that they have been prompt and receptive to my needs (Mimi is great, especially). It's an old building (I knew that when I signed the lease), so there will always be repairs; the parking is a hassle (knew that too but it kind of goes with the territory). All in all, this is one of the better places I've lived in Denver (of about 7 or 8). Not perfect, but appropriate for the price, location, etc.

Well Well... You always have complainers in the building and the last complainer needs to get a grip the building is lookin great & comin together pretty fast. Yes there has been some delay but what do you want theres 18 floors and 315 units. It does take time jus relax and enjoy what the Management is doing to make the buidling look better than b4. I have lived here for 5 yrs and have seen TONS of change ( 4 the better). The hallways are lookin FABULOUS they are gettin a dark blue carpet and the walls are a tan color. Looks jus like a 5 star Hotel. I understand the garage is gettin out of control and we all get nervious about our cars but I havent seen any Homeless people. But back to me....I think Mezzo has been thru the ups and downs and we should give them a break and let them finish the job they have started. If nothing changes soon then we can complain and have attitude about everything. I do not agree with this complainer about the office staff they have been nice from the jump. You must be young and expect alot or your jus a lil spoiled brat who is a complainer. You seen what the building looks like from the beginning they take you to the floors and you had the chance to never return but you made the choice to come back to the lovely MEZZO. (ha-ha) See it's not bad at all you make it look bad for them. So your time is up soon... and we can have someone who can appreciate the building move in, without any back talk. :) BYE BYE.

I'm a resident in the building.I lived here for few years and I have seen a lot of changes. Some good and some bad. I do like the building because of the location and close to my job but every place has a bad apple. They changed the lobby & office which looks very nice except the blue wall. It is very ugly. Now let's talk about the office staff I like Mimi very much because she is very senistive for my need if I ask mimi to do my service request it will be done right away. She's been here the longest and she is great with the residents. If you want good customer service go to Mimi. She will treat you very nice. :) I DON'T like the Manager Jessica She is very rude and her service sucks. She has no respect for nobody and I hate that. I have over heard her speak to her maintenace and I wouldn't work there after the way she talked to them, I would hate to go to her for anything. She is FAKE. I like the New leasing girl. She is very nice. The bookeeper no comment! Maintenance crew are nice and they respond very well. Housekeeper Sammy, he is the nicest guy you could ever want to meet. Lets talk about CUSTOMER SERVICE he's the one....example ( serving coffee to the residents every morning ) I seen this for about 1 1/2 yrs now. It doesn't even stop there it goes on and on. So as far as the building we have good and we have bad. I just wanted to tell my side of what I think. If you have the chance to stop in and see please respond and tell me what you think. Everyone has there own opinion.

Well I relocated here from New York and the office staff was very nice and very helpful with everything I asked and needed. When I arrived to Mezzo they were right on top of things. The noise level is not bad at all, they are remodeling the whole building and its going to look great. Yes you will experience some noise but you know about the remodeling before you move in. STOP COMPLAINING. I think this building is a great place to live. Close to everything job, school and downtown.

The Mezzo Apartments in Capital Hill, CO are actually a reincarnation of Sherman Tower Apartments, which were the first high-rise apartments in Denver built in 1951. The name changed to Mezzo a few months ago with new ownership, and the service went down considerably. Apparently a trendy new name is cause enough to raise the rent in an old and tired building. The office staff, with the exception of Mimi, are the most incompetent bunch of folks you will ever deal with. Talking to them is like talking to a brick wall, although less fun. Parking is problematic if you don't pay $100/month for a garage spot in the building. In all - its a good place for college kids b/c of the location, and still a fairly decent price for downtown living. Just don't expect The Ritz or anything close to it.
