Review for Avalon Bedford Apartments

(1)They enter your apartment at least 12 times a year without giving you any prior notice and while you're at work. They claim these are routine inspections.

(2)They step on your rugs with their dirty shoes and spray various bug poisons all over your belongings even if you tell them that you don't want that in your apartment or that you have no bugs.

(3)They wreck the place while you're away. I once came back from vacation to find everything wet, and my stuff -- including expensive books and furniture -- thrown all over the place. As it turns out, the apartment was flooded from a broken pipe, and they fixed it by braking into the place and doing what they felt necessary without any consideration to my property. Nobody ever notified me about this. I had to find out in the middle of the night as I got back from the airport.

(4)They falsely charge your account if you permit automatic rent payments. Months after I moved out, I discovered erroneous charges on my account. Although these charges were quickly credited back, I had to pay an overdraft penalty to my bank for transactions I never authorized. (5)They kick you out of your bed in the middle of the night. Every few months, their ear splitting alarms will sound while you sleep, and you will have to run out into the cold night because somebody left a toaster on too long, setting off a complex-wide emergency.

(6)Upper management treats you like dirt. I wrote to headquarters about my grievances, yet never ever received a reply.

(7)They raise rents by 10% each year. Yes, even in a down market. No wonder I moved out as soon as my lease expired.
