Very satisfied overall ( over a year ago )

I have lived at Columbia Plaza for several years and have recently been directed to this site. Overall I have had a very positvie experience with the management and neighbor. I like when I ask for help everyone is so willing to assist me. My guest often say that when they visit they feel so welcome as everyone speaks from the manager to the maintenace man. They all seem so happy with their jobs, I wish I felt that way whenI go to work, smile...but seriously. it is very nice community and I have not intentions of moving at this time. When I do move, to buy a house, I am really going to miss the attention that they give when you call for a repair. The manager is a very nice lady and she is always so polite. No Airs about her.

I chose Columbia Plaza because I was working at the State Department across the street. I was a bit wary because I thought it would be full of noisy students, and I was pleasantly surprised--it is one of the quietest apartments I have had in terms of noise from the neighbors. (There was some traffic noise because my apartment fronted the freeway.) The apartments are beautifully maintained, and I found all of the office staff and maintenance people to be professional and responsive. Front desk staff left something to be desired, but I suppose that's true anywhere. There is a Safeway in the Watergate and a large drugstore (plus a few other small shops) in the Watergate complex a short block away, as well as a terrific buffet, liquor store and Chinese restaurant in Columbia Plaza itself. The metro is a bit of a hike, but not bad, and there's not much in the way of entertainment in the immediate vicinity (aside from the Kennedy Center). However, you can't beat the location if you work at the State Department. I had a studio, which was very large--about 500 square feet with a separate sleeping alcove. I would definitely go back to Columbia Plaza again. <P>

Although it's a nice community, it's WAY overpriced! I've seen mice in my apartment three times, and the front desk isn't always the most helpful with that. If you're going to live in Columbia Plaza, I'd definitely recommend living in the "C" building, because that's where the front desk is (which is where you'll get all of your packages). Also there's a parking garage here at Columbia Plaza, which is nice if you feel like spending $155/month to park there!
