The Heights (now called Brookland Ridge) was generally a nice place to live. I had come from a temporary apt in S.E. and specifically asked the manager were there any rodents. she assured me no because I had another place I was thinking about moving to. I plugged in the (fake me out) mouse/roach plug-ins and considered myself lucky. The appliances were all new. After having been there for 6 months the mice showed themselves to me. I was mortified, especially at the landlords suggestions. I purchased traps then asked myself why and went to them. They gave me sticky traps. One morning we got up and there were 3 little mice on the counter ontop of that sticky thing. It was disgusting. I kept complaining and they finally came out and drilled holes in the walls to put poison in. That lasted 4 months then they were back. I never had a roach the entire year I was there. It was quiet and we always had a parking space. Sometimes management was a little slow on getting things done and I would have to write a letter but overall if they can do something about the mice, it would be an ideal place to live.

I moved into my apartment in the Heights (East) in April, and I have loved this place since! The Office staff is very friendly, maintenance is right on... I called once at 12AM (just got home from work) because I had no hot water, and the maintenance guy called back 10 minutes later to say he would be by first thing in the morning... and he was! The building I am in is quiet... sometimes you hear the weekend noise - but very rarely. Parking is great - you get one space with the apartment and there is always a spot open. The neighborhood is nice as well... the complex is gated, and it is practically right on the campus of CUA, so it is well lit and well patrolled. The metro is about a 15 minute walk on a very well lit street also. The nice thing about this place is that their rent is much lower than other places, but the apartments are MUCH better than other places I have looked at in areas like Woodley Park, Adams Morgan, Dupont, etc. This was definitely a good move. <P>

I had a good experience at the Heights. I had a 2 bedroom apt. The master bedroom is huge w/ a walk in closet which I loved. I would have preferred if the complex had room-mate style apts b/c I lived with my sister. I also loved the washer and dryer. There are few apts. in Washington that provide you with your own inside the apt. and w/o charging you like crazy. My apt. was clean, new carpet, new paint, and nice size kitchen. I never had problems with
