Stay Far Away

I've been here for over a year and the place is pretty bad. Saturday night there was a shooting, of course the cops took forever to come and there's only security here a few nights a week. Last weekend someone had their car broken into during the middle of the day, broke out all the windows, etc, but of course, no security. Then yesterday a neighbors car was broken into, apparently sometime between the police leaving from Saturday night's shooting and them getting up Sunday morning. They openly sell drugs on Latham Lane (the last lane to the rear of the apartment complex). You'll see them sitting in a parked car while other cars come up throughout the day/night. There are pitbulls everywhere, even though they will tell you they're not allowed, in fact even employees have them as was said before. There is a convicted sex offender living in one of the buildings, although no notice was given to the residents. Last year they had someone setting fires. There was a fire on the third floor of Building 17 yesterday, although that is probably totally unrelated, just saying don't get an apt on the third floor of 17, there has been prior fire/smoke/water damage now. There is very little lighting at night and most of the lights don't work or are very dim. Some seem to be motion sensor lights, but they don't always come on and shut off rather quickly, even if you're still walking. As for the buildings, the ac hasn't been upgraded in over a decade and you fry in the summer. The hot water takes forever to get hot, then once you get in the shower it fluctuates constantly so you get burned one minute and then freeze the next. The "playground" is falling apart, the tennis courts are fenced in and locked up but they cut through the fences to hang out there at night and have torn it up, the pool is pretty gross and last year they never cleaned the kiddie pool at all so it was just a big brown mosquito heaven. There is water from the washers in the laundry rooms being pumped out onto the ground outside. The dishwashers have some bizarre plumbing where the dirty water goes into your sink and spurts all over the counters, not to mention they've got to be 12-15 years old and don't clean well at all. The patios are rusting and flaking horribly and were apparently painted over several years ago as there is black paint peeling from all over them. We were told the floors were concrete and you couldn't hear your neighbors, but you can hear the neighbors below and beside playing music, opening closets, having "couple time", etc at all times of the day and night. The little gazebo that they show on the pamphlets, well the grass is usually dead and prickly, there's no real landscaping to speak of and it's mostly unkempt (although they do cut the grass regularly), and that gazebo is the only one and damaged. The bushes come out onto the sidewalks, leaving plenty of hiding area for those who need to hide. The sidewalk in most places isn't even a real sidewalk but a thin path of poorly laid asphalt which does not look attractive at all and is in disrepair. I'm not entirely sure what the maintenance staff actually does as it takes several days to a week for them to even come out to look at a problem and they may or may not ever return to fix it. The one lady in the office also has a bad habit of not letting them know, which you won't find out until days later when you call and one of the others say she never left a work order, yet she continues to work there. You can do much better elsewhere, I would never recommend this place and hope to leave as soon as my lease is up as it is just becoming worse.
