Apartment Review for Mayport Trace

We moved in December 2005 into a two bed two bath. It looked totally different from the model. Outdated lighting, ugly blue carpet that stained easily, old appliances, walls so paper thin we heard our neighbors having sex at least 3 nights a week. The pool was closed all summer of '05 and is still closed. They installed a security gate which works when it wants to. If the gate doesn't open I've seen and heard people ramming their cars to get the gate open so I don't fault the management for that. They called the repair man to fix the gate at least 3 times and I think they finally gave up! You have to call a couple of times or go to the office in person to have maintenance come to your apartment. My boyfriend and I just had our second child and needed a three bed two bath. Our lease was up December 31, 2006. We went to the office before December 1st and asked if we could switch to a three bed apartment and got the run around for at least a month before they finally called and told us we could move. The landscaping is nice, the buildings are in decent shape and all of our neighbors thus far have been friendly. Overall not the best place I've lived in but I would recommend this place to others. Management is OK (it depends on who you deal with). It's on Mayport Rd (which used to be pretty decent) but has gone downhill in the past 5 years or so. My mom works for the Atlantic Beach police dept and said that the police are really starting to crack down on the drug dealers and hookers that walk Mayport Rd. You'll see police cars patrolling Mayport Rd late in the evening so at least they are making an attempt to clean up the streets! <P>
