Review for Lamirada Gardens Apartments

We moved into this apartment community April 2nd 2009. One month ago. To start, the DAY we moved in we had to call the police because about ten people were on our stairwell selling drugs. Not much the police can do and I understand that. However this is a 24/7 occurence here. We found out from BPD that this community is very very well known for drugs and violence so we were already looking for a new place within 1 week of living there. Then about a week ago (middle of april) I heard someone downstairs screaming that he was going to shoot through someones door and kill this persons whole family because the person sold him "bad drugs". About a week later a HUGE fight broke out between our building and the building that the man screaming lives in. About 50 cops came and the tenants pulled guns on the COPS! Two weeks ago a man shook his girlfriends baby to death. Which just goes to show the character of the people living there. I have tried to file complaints with the office but can't because I am not on the lease. I was told when my fiance signed the lease that because I am unemployed I could not BE on the lease. My fiance works and the office is always closed when he is home. What to do? Finally my father got through to the office and asked for HQ phone number. They told him they are only an answering service and don't know the HQ phone number. Which is a lie. They don't have an answering service. We finally got HQ phone number, they were shocked but generally unhelpful. (I'm sorry, you can get out of your lease.. That was about the extent of the answer we recieved)Come to find out, the main guy causing all the problems and selling the drugs is the managers newphew. No wonder its kept quiet. The day the fight broke out, it ended up in a complex-wide riot and we left and have not been back except to pack our apartment and get OUT!!!!

There were NO reviews when we were moving here. Someone should have warned us! Hopefully I can warn others about this. This is absolutley the WORST place to live. I have lived in communities and apartment complexes almost my whole life and have pretty much seen it all when it comes to the "blend" of people you get when living so closely with so many people. I have NEVER seen ANYTHING comparable to this. STAY AWAY!!!! The rent is only 650 for a 3 bedroom. Sounded great for a family of 5 on a really tight budget but I suppose you get what you pay for...
