I am a grad student, paid my rent ontime, no violations or complaints. My neighbor took up the bass drum 1 month ago. I tried everything and though the drumming was vibrating my wall management offered no help other than to call the police every time he does it. I decided to leave in June though my lease ended in July. They require prepayment of the last months rent so they had this money. I was informed that I must maintain the utilities in my name though I am vacating early. I am currently working with UF legal services for help as Saul Silber himself called me to threaten me that if I turn off the utilities he will sue me for the utilities, attorney fees, cell phone minutes and anything else he can pile on. After 10 months in the apt, when I told them I would not renew my lease, they asked me to sign an addendum to the lease agreeing to pay for 7 pages of expenses including 5 dollars per light bulb they replace upon me moving out. I refused to sign this document and the battle began. They have threatened to sue me, though I have paid all my rent, never been late, never had any violations. They try to bully you until you give up. If you do come here and have a problem, the florida statute for landlord tenant law is at www.flsenate.gov Ch 83 Pt.II. Get familiar with this and if you are a UF student call legal services for help, it's free. They want me to leave the utilities on though I will be turning over the keys a month early so that they can come and and remodel the bathroom. I dont think even with the help of legal aide at UF I will get my deposit back. If you are a student DONT RENT FROM SAUL SILBER! THE STRESS AND ANXIETY OF HAVING TO LEARN THE STATUTES AND MY RIGHTS HAS BEEN HORRIBLE, IT IS TIME CONSUMING AND THEY GANG UP ON YOU TO SEND YOU NASTY EMAIL AND THREATEN YOU. I lived in Bridgelight prior to hear which is managed by contemporary management concepts and did not have this problem upon vacating. Saul silber rents to a lot of college students, there is a very high turnover of 35 or more units, they always have the for rent sign out so be vigilant and refuse to sign anything that gives you pause! Take pictues with a digital time and date stamp when you move in of any areas of concern and do the same upon leaving. Document everything, keep all communications from management and use email to ensure you maintain a copy! I strongly recommend you not move here but if you do, get ready to become a landlord-tenant attorney as I have had to research statutes and contact an attoney just to get my deposit back and to prevent me from paying for utilities past the date I move out. PLEASE DONT DO THIS! YOUR RENT WILL INCREASE 40 BUCKS OR MORE EVERY YEAR AND THEY WILL FIGHT YOU AND TRY TO INTIMIDATE YOU IF YOU DECIDE NOT TO RENEW. THEY ASK YOU TO RENEW ALMOST 6 MONTHS BEFORE YOUR LEASE IS UP! The on site laundry facilities are a joke. Half of the washers dont work, you come back and your laundry is sitting in a tub of water. After many residents complained Jarrett the manager sent a notice stating that Saul Silber is not responsible for the laundry facilites in the apt! What!!! I have not done laundry here in months, I have to drive around the corner to the laundromat. Run, DONT WALK! I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO RENT SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN SAUL SILBER!
