People that review things here are generally here because they had a bad experience, or bad experiences and desire to rant about it. I would not call this place the horror many of these riled residents are claiming. Really, anyone avidly preaching the wrongs of this complex should try Dorm Life, On Campus housing, or most any other place in this price bracket. The area is right across from Butler Plaza, Wal Mart, Target, Publix, Albertsons, Old Navy, Pac Sun, Payless, and tons of other big names in shopping are a short walk or drive away. Very convienent for gas, and for those without cars. The bus to campus, on the other hand makes the location slightly less desirable. If its a good bus route you're looking for seek places on the 9 or 35 route, the 12 is probably the second worst campus route. I will often sit on campus and watch 6 or more 9's come by waiting for my 12. On the outside Campus Club has good mantinence and upkeep, the trees and woods give it an added atmosphere many complexes do not have and the grounds are well cared for. Its at least on par for the area and far beyond most complexes closer to campus. Inside the furnature sadly generally looks like something from a condemned ski lodge, which is one of my greatest complaints. They will not remove this horrid furnature and if you do, you'd better find a nice expensive storage facility because you'll be charged for damages. The helpfulness of the office staff really varries. A few of them are amazing and others are rather confused and incompetent and can be seen haunting the local "stoner guy's" apartment. Security is great though! In gainesville you can never say "i feel totally safe" and years ago there was a rash of car break-ins, but the security they have now is makes me feel safe to walk around at 4am if I so desire. They are also courteous and look out for the residents best interest (even when they are minors with open containers in the parking lot sitting on a stranger's car). The one scary thing about security? I met someone that got into a stranger's apartment with their own key. I must wonder how many of the locks are replicas. Bump Keys (currently a fad in tampa) could also make breaking in a cake walk. Luckilly for this, there are alarm systems in each apartment. I wish further latches were supplied, but I'm pretty sure they're not even allowed. Appliances are another terrible aspect of the apartment along with the furnature. My dryer has never dryed a thing, but when on sounds like a small puppy and a pair of sneakers are inside it, my dad fixed the washer himself on a visit, and the dishwasher had a pool of water and candy wrappers in the bottom which even after use remain and we were told if we used it it would just be spraying that swamp ass on our dishes. All of my roommates have put in mantinence requests about these things and though they were looked at, they were never fixed. It has been a year now. Mantinence is very good about clogs, lights, breaks, and teaching you how to use the fan if you just don't get it during normal office hours. As other people reviewed, mantinence does rather barge in with a simple knock and a shout "mantinence!" BUT these are complex-wide checkups which residents are NOTIFIED about days in advance via a brightly colored printout jammed in their doors by the office staff. They will come in between 9 and 5 on the alloted days. They won't be barging in any later than 8pm, you can't even get them to fix an exploding toilet then. Finally, the noise level and parking can be rather terrible. Fights, parties, excited new owners of 200wat amps playing dueling banjos for 14 straight hours, non-residents taking up all the good parking on Saturday nights with no real fear of being towed. Even worse, roommate matching will not save you from being roomed with these pepole if you don't have your own roommates because people lie on those applications like no tomorrow. BUT I have experienced all of this at other apartments, such as Gainesville Place, and from friends in other nearby neighbourhoods its all about the same. If you're looking for silence you'll need to find a graduate student/adult dominated complex like Arbor Park or Fairmont Oaks which are in less desireable locations and score a deal lower on everything else I just reviewed. All in all, I have had many friends who considered campus club only to chose another option (often for fear of roommate matching) and gotten screwed over on having non-seperate leasing, no security, worse mantinence etc etc and regretted not making this their choice within a month. Do I like living here? No. Do I think there is a better place for the money compared to what I get? Not so far. Believe me, I'm looking. This August I'll be going into my second year with them and I rather wish I wasn't. But...it could be worse!
