I have heard many people say only the worst about Lexington Crossing, save that it is a great place to party. I hope that every takes these words from others at face value, for everyone has a different experience.
Lexington Crossing is not the greatest place in the world, but in a town with 50,000 students, and everyone trying to find the best place to live at the lowest cost, you have to understand that sometimes, you have to pay a little more than you want to. Luckily for me, Lexington Crossing was under $500, which fits wonderfully in my budget.
The buses are not as bad as people say. Granted, it does take 30 minutes to get to Campus on the 34, and maybe 20 on the 9, but that is an easy problem to fix: Get up earlier. So you stayed up all night partying, and now have a huge midterm coming up. Well...You chose to party, and now you have to deal with it. So you have to get up 30 minutes earlier so you can spend an hour getting ready. Another easy problem: Go to bed early. Every acts like the bus being 5 minutes late is going to ruin their lives, when in actuality, it all could have been solved if they just took an earlier bus. Oh well, they will one day learn.
The walls are not as thin as people say they are. Granted, you can hear your neighbours blasting their hip-hop music away, but again, another easy solution: Go next door and ask them to turn it down. Never once have I had any problem with neighbours blasting music once I speak to them about. Granted, I am no small guy, so Intimidation may be a factor, but most college students understand that some need to study, and they will happily turn it down for you. If not, you can always call the cops after 11, and with at least four living here now, they respond really fast.
Maintenance has to be the fastest I have ever seen. My last apartment waited seven MONTHS to answer a work order I put in when I first moved in, and even then, they didn't fix the problem. Here, I literally broke my shower (Busted the knob and the entire mechanism) and I put in a work order at 8:30. By 8:45, I had my shower being fixed, and when I got back from classes, the shower was fixed and the guy left his cell phone number in case anything ever breaks again. That is Maintenance.
Parties...Never a shortage, and the good thing is, with GPD Party Patrols, one simple call can end every party around you in a 5 block radius. Besides, most of the parties start at 10, and beer runs out by 12, so you still have all night to study if parties have been keeping you from your duties. Also, you can simply catch one of the two buses to head to campus, study in a nice quiet library, and get back to your apartment AFTER the party.
All and all, Lexington Crossing is no where near as bad as these pampered puppies make it seem. You may be inconvienced at times, but it is nothing to write home about, and even if it is, well, call GPD. They are really nice to talk to at 3 am on the morning of your Exam.
