This was my very first apartment in Gainesville after living on-campus for my freshman year. When I moved in, it was evident that college students have no idea how to clean. There were permanent stains in the carpet and the blinds were yellow. My biggest issues were with the bathroom. The tub would not drain properly and would thus leave a dark grimy stain in the tub. The toilet seat was nearly broken so I just replaced it myself. Management is very friendly, although some of the other office workers are a tad incompetent and look at you funny when you ask a question. There is always a notice to give you a heads-up when anyone is going to come into the apartment. The grounds are pretty well-kept-- the pools are clean, the gym is of a good size, etc. The basketball court is not lit which is kind of annoying but Southwest is so close you could just take the bus and use theirs. The roach situation was moderate. I've only seen a couple of SMALL roaches here and there, and they're so dumb that they don't run away as you approach them with an industrial-sized can of Raid. It isn't worth calling for pest control. Noise hasn't been a big problem. By some miraculous act of God, I don't have any other roommates in a 3/3 apartment. And I only hear one of my neighbours if he is being particularly loud. [There was one time around 8 in the morning when he started playing "Bohemian Rhapsody" at full blast. I let it slide because it amused me. All other transgressions have been met with a knock on the wall; that usually resolves it.] There haven't been too many parties. Some people can be obnoxious and scream and dick around with their friends in the hallways, but what are you gonna do? All utilities are included in the rent, including cable and internet. A lot of the reviews complain about the internet going out, but I haven't had that problem. It's a fast ethernet connection and has been more than sufficient. There is a $45/month electricity cap which has been tough for me to stick to. [I had an issue with the old dryer. The timer stopped working and it just kept going until I realized what had happened. I'm sure that drove up the bill.] I would seriously recommend the furniture package. Sure, it's no Ethan Ellan, but it's comfortable and fairly modern. It's not like some other apartments' furniture packages that make your apartment look like an episode from That 70s Show. The appliances are somewhat old but usable. The microwave was total crap though. It was gross and too small for real use. All in all, I've been pleased with Lexington Crossing. The bus stops are close by and there are at least two buses that run frequently (every 10-15 minutes). It is close to Butler Plaza and the shopping centers on 34th Street.
