I have been living in Oxford Manor for a year as a sophmore and although I have been disappointed in many aspects of the management and condition of the apartment, it has many redeaming qualities. First the bad...I have heard many more horror stories about other apartments even though ours was not that bad. Its noisy, not between apartments but from outside. I could hear my neighbors who liked to sit out on their porch until 3am every night. I got used to that eventually, and only called in a noise complaint twice. Then there was the condition of the apartment itself, the units are pretty old and when we moved in several things were broken and it took them quite a while to get around to fixing it...mostly because there were other apartments that were MUCH worse (like completely flooded or ripped apart carpets) In fact we had to call maintenance so many times that we now know the maintenance staff personally. The main maintenance guy told us that the construction of the buildings themselves was shoddy which explaned why so many things were breaking and the walls had cracks all over...the buildingd themselves are slowly sinking!!! Even with these things though, our apartment was very nice, we asked to have the carpets steamed cleaned from a leak in the ceiling (and from our puppy peeing on them...shhh) and they came out the very next day and took care of the entire apartment. The service was great, you just have to be very firm and a little bitchy. Its also a great atmosphere, alot of other places we looked at just looks sketchy and a little depressing. This place definately has a fun and safe atmosphere and you cant get a better location to campus!! only a 5 minute bus ride!! Overall, they have things to work on, but I was satisfied and happy living there.
