I lived here from fall 2005 to summer 2006. What can I say. Wow. A BAD BAD EXPERIENCE. I moved there because I was rushed and didn't have many options. It seemed like a good deal. But I was in for a surprise.
Before I knew it, I was going through the walk through, and the apartment seemed to be in semi-decent condition. They had at least put in new carpeting, which was good. However, being new at this, I did not write NEARLY AS MUCH AS I SHOULD HAVE on the "move in conditions" paper. IF YOU MOVE ANYWHERE, MAKE SURE YOU ARE INCREDIBLY THOROUGH WITH DETAILS ON THE CONDITION OF THE APARTMENT.
Within 2 hours of living there, I realized exactly how disgusting the apartment was. Even the inside of the fridge was appallingly filthy. There were grimy cobwebs hanging off of the dim light in the bathroom. Large hordes of cockroaches were infesting the area, and I am forced to conclude that they had a colony somewhere in the walls.
Halfway through the year, I suddenly noticed this rancid smell, like that of a dead body emanating from somewhere in the kitchen. I never figured out what it was.
However, I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 minute bus ride to campus. That was about the only good thing I can write about.
Now, the really bad part. I moved out in earnest, feeling free and emancipated. I spent 2 days cleaning the apartment. We never even had any furniture int he living area, so the walls and carpet were in top shape. Everything was cleaned very well.
When I handed in my key, the apartment manager was incredibly rude. So rude in fact, she yelled through my cell phone at my father ( who wished to ask her why there was no walk through upon move out). This woman, Debbie, as they call her, has no sense of professionalism. She is utterly mean-spirited, and everybody knows it. Her reputation was known to me before I even moved in, but I did not heed the warnings.
Upon move out, I am required to sign a paper. I took a minute to read the fine print before signing, while she kept looking at me impatiently, and REPEATED 3 times: "DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM SIGNING THE PAPER?" I am not exaggerating. This was the extent of her conduct with me.
I am a relatively mild-mannered person so I just let it go.
bottom-line: THERE ARE MUCH BETTER DEALS, AND MUCH NICER PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH THAN THIS WOMAN.
