If you don't want to deal with headaches from the landlord, don't rent #301. I lived there for 2 years. One of the roommates was the landlord. The first year, I tried to keep to myself and avoid arguments. The second year, I got tired of the landlord not turning the air on during hot summer days and turning the heater off when it was freezing out, so I said something to her. She usually got away with the air b/c I didn't want to keep arguing about it. The thing is, she paid the electric bill and you pay $40 fixed utility rate which means that if you use less, she keeps the rest. She also handles the maintance calls. So I reported mildew and the tub not draining. She literaly told me to deal with it. Everytime any maintainance topics came up, she would get very defensive and yell. One time, I had to even call the cops b/c she was being verbally abusive and I was very afraid to go out of my room. Ever since then, I haven't lived in that apt. I paid 3 months rent there while living with my fiancee's parents. It was well worth it not having to deal with her psychotic self.
