I currently live in this community not too far from the property manager herself who is rude, sarcastic and unprofessional. The poor ratings that this community receives unfortunately are warranted. The apartments do need to be upgraded especially the kitchens. The floors are sunken in, the cabinets have water damage and holes in them. The blinds are awful and match the patch job that the maintenance man did on them. There are no lights in any of my bedrooms that work from a wall mount. I have to use a lamp in each room. This is certainly not worth the over $1,000 that I pay for this unit, monthly. My warning should have been when my unit wasn't ready on move in and the apartment manager had some smart alec comment over the phone, instead of an apology. I may call a code enforcer downtown as somehow this doesn't seem right that prior to move in and signing a contract no one told me that I would not have adequate lighting in my unit. I have never had to use so many lamps in my life. My dishwasher has been out for two months and I haven't heard anything else about it being replaced, which was supposed to be the beginning of the year. It's now February.
Today I attempted to jump my other car off and drove over a dirt patch to do it. The property manager had the nerve to ride up behind me and honk her horn at me while scolding me about parking on a dirt patch that she calls grass. The area is covered by trees and debris from trees, grass will NEVER grow there. I felt like telling her that I will get off the dirt when she gives me my dishwasher like I pay may rent in a timely manner, but I had company and my mother would have seen me.
About the racist part... I definitely think there is an element of that in the management there as I think back about how I saw this old, bald white guy who wears glasses talking to one of the black maintenance men there. He was totally nasty and I hope that they NEVER send him to my unit for anything. He had redneck written all over him and you could tell that he was disrespecting this young brother just because he thought he could do it and get away with it. When people mistreat their staff, they will usually mistreat customers.
Lastly, I have a unit around me with about 12 people living in it. Honest! You can count them as they come out everyday for work. They are noisy, they fight, they dry their clothes on the patio and even have furniture like mattresses on the patio. They look like they are a bunch of illegals and nobody speaks english. I've never seen this manager say anything to these people ever and I wonder if she would ever allow a bunch of black people to pile into an apartment like that. I don't think so!

The staff there do lie, I have lived there for the last years and the office managers have changed several times. My Unit was damaged by storm water last year2008. To this day it has not been repaired. I have talked to the office several times stiil no result. The maintenace of these apartments is terrible.

The staff is rude, nasty and racist. They lie and constantly give you the run around. They are very unprofessional.

I have lived here almost 3 years. I have really enjoyed my stay. We had a waterfront unit. Our building was very quiet, no problems with our neighbors. The buildings have recently been painted and they look great. I hate to move but the rent is going up toooo high otherwise I would stay put. Great property, great views. I had minor maintenance problems over my three years and the staff and maintenance always responded very quickly. I have no complaints.

The staff here is a joke. They do nothing but lie and manipulate to get you to shut up. You have to call the emergency line to get any kind of maintance done, and the management is the worse Ive ever seen. Employees change constantly, and the ones they have are very unprofessional. You ask them to take care of something, and when you come home to find that nothing has been done u just get some kind of excuse

This review is written in reply to the last review written to tell the facts. Ive never been lied to by management and the reason for the turn over is the apartments just changed ownership along with the management company. Things are just settling in. As far as the people who live there. I have meet only decent people, and never had a problem with anyone that lives there. The apartments are overgoing a complete rentavation including landscape. I have never seen dirt in the pool and it is watched over daily by the employee's daily. All of the exteriors of the apartments will be like new very soon as the rentavation is atleast half done and the guys doing it are working very fast to finish what they are doing. I am not sure what is going on with the landscape, but they are clearing things up good bit and everytime I come home it seems like something new has been done to the property. The cats that the last reviewer commented on are mostly gone now and there is a new garbage system (compactor)that the cats will prolly not want to mess with. Now if you leave your trash on your porch over night like your not supposed to you may still get a racoon or something in your garbage. There are still some empty units but with all the new rentavation there will prolly be many more new residents moving in very soon. I see nothing but great things for the future of this place.

Office Staff is wonderful especially Marve. I burn my kitchen the second or third week of my stay and office staff have been very understanding. If anything breaks immediately a maintenance person is sent to fix it. I am very happy living here and the place is nice and quiet. I wish we had front gate security, maybe someday it will.

I have lived in this apartment complex for 9 months & just signed another 13 month lease. We love it here. Quiet, secure, beautiful views, great pool. Everything you want in one place! I would definitely recommend these apartments. <P>

Island Point was a very pleasant place to stay. I stayed there for 12 months. Management is professional and maintenance was done in a timely manner. I never had any problems with neighbors and I felt very safe there. The only reason why I moved out is because I don't think the size of the apartment is sufficient for the amount of rent they charge. The only reason I was able to stay there was because their was a move in special. But other than that there were no problems. <P>
