The Londontowne Apartments were built sometime during the 1960's, at which time it was regarded as the premiere place to live in the Westside of Jacksonville. Today, it still has its unique architectural design which most people find to be very pleasant. There are beautiful Oak trees that are at least a 100 years old. There is also a variety of other trees that contribute to the overall beauty of the grounds. In addition, there are also a few Magnolia trees, which when in bloom, treat your sense of smell to a very nice experience. The property is bordered by water on three sides and by a major 4 lane road. There is a rich variety of wildlife that makes their home here, plus migratory birds, such as Geese can be found here. There are several varieties of ducks and turtles, and of course there are a few squirrels. None of the birds or animals appear to be a problem to anyone. If you enjoy fishing, there are bass, brim and other species of fish that can be caught.

There are 700 apartments that are inhabited by over 2,000 residents. Londontowne has an olympic sized swimming pool, plus a variety of other smaller pools. On a hot Florida afternoon, these pools are very popular.

When you need to do your laundry, there is a very nice laundromat for your use. For those who like to maintain their good health and physique, their is a very well equipped weight room located right next to the laundromat.

One of the best attributes of the Londontowne Apartments is its location. There are department stores of all kinds, grocery stores, HMO's and hospitals, dentist offices, a rich variety of restaurants and quick food establishments. There are plenty of gas stations and other businesses to service your car. Anything you need is located within just a short driving distance.

As in any major sized community, there is a vein of crime. For Londontowne, when compared to other like sized communities, the crime is almost non-existent. There is an occasional car theft, some vandalism, and very limited illegal drug use. People of all ages walk the streets, confidently feeling that they are safe. There is a Neighborhood Watch Program, whose co-ordinator is totally committed to ensuring that the residents of Londontowne, are able to be fully aware of all the information, that can help them know and understand about what is available for them, that will aide them in maintaining a safe enviroment for themselves and their families. The NWP meets on a monthly basis, where speakers from varius government agencies will speak on a variety of issues, including crime, disaster recovery, and health issues. At these meetings, the Londontowne management provides those who attend with food and drink. Plus there is always a member of the front office staff, who will be in attendance to answer questions from those who have concerns about any issue that is associated with living at Londontowne.

The residents of Londontowne are a rich variety of race, culture, and ethnic background. With this in mind, I find that the manager, the front office staff, the maintenance workers and security staff are first class. Of the over 2,000 people who live within the community, a vast majority are very pleased with their living quarters and surroundings. There are unfortunately, a very few who were never pleased and probably developed a disgruntled attitude and thankfully left. Due to being located close to a major Naval base, there are some residents who are in the miltary, plus there are some who are retired and chose Londontowne as their place of resident. There are several people who have lived in the community for over 20 years.

To some of us who live here, Londontowne is like a little paradise, that is located within the borders of a major sized city. Problems exist in all communities and ours are very limited, making living here a pleasure.
