GREAT PLACE TO LIVE! Boric Acid gets rid of the Roaches for good! ( over a year ago )

I have been living at Portofino at Biscayne for about 4 months now and I dont have any complaints. The building is quiet and clean, they have a farely big park in the middle of the apartment complex that is well kept and their is also a convenient store located on the property that sells just about anything you can think of although they are expensive it comes in handy on those days when you may not feel like driving to the store. The place is pet friendly and has a dog park located on the property. There are 2 swimming pools, a tennis court and good size gym with many different machines from elipticals, treadmills and cycle bikes, ab machines and weights. My apartment is a 1/1 and there is plenty of space. When I first moved in I must admit there was a roach problem but they have pest control that come to your apt twice a week if you request it and I purchased Boric Acid and place the powder all around the corners and edges of my apt and havent seen a roach since unless it was on its back dead. Boric Acid really works! I live alone and I feel safe here, havent heard of any break ins or crime on the property while I've been here. I will recommend this place to anyone. Dont listen to those bad reviews, theres always going to be more bad reviews than good only because people who are happy and have no complaints never take the time to write a review thats why I felt obligated after reading these reviews. I've been living at Portofino for 2 months now and have had no problems so far. My main complaint is that the pools are not kept up as well as I think they should be kept...but the beaches are so close by, so I just go there to swim.
Its true that there are tons of dogs living here, and I am not personally a dog owner, but the maintenance staff are always cleaning and mopping the hallways and elevators. Many residents dont use the dog park - they let their dogs urinate on the main park area but it doesnt really bother me because I don't exactly play in the grass.
I love my apartment, I love all the space and the great balcony. I've never seen a bug in my apartment and the grounds are very well groomed. I also think the gym and the tennis courts are very nice, although small, is never crowded. All of the staff with the exception of one woman in the office are very friendly and helpful. Try to get Ricardo and Pilar to help you out.
There are a lot of students from FIU living here which I thought would be problematic, but I dont hear a peep from anyone.

The management is horrible!!!! They don't care about their tenants at all. Someone's pet tarantula was let loose in the building; it found its way into my apartment. I complained four times and not even once did they enter my apartment to try and find it, or spray, or look for anything suspicious. I have also documented a total of 15 days that I went (not consecutively) without hot water. Every time I would call they would say they were doing scheduled maintenance. When I asked them why the tenants were not forewarned, since it is "scheduled" maintenance, they didn't know what to say. They also have serious problems with the elevators. There are only two elevators in each building that has about 120 units per building. For a month and a half one of the elevators has been out of commission. So when people move in and hold the elevator on their floor for ten minutes, there is no elevator for anyone lees. And last but not least, I can hear my neighbors sneeze. The walls are so thin that I know what show they are watching on TV. I would only recommend this place to someone that is looking for price as their main concern. <P>
