Review for Auvers Village Apartments

Security- Tenants actually recieved notices about an armed carjacking in the complex in broad daylight just before I moved out. This whole area of Orlando (Winter Park) is absolutely saturated with crime. Saw plenty of cars missing wheels or hubcaps, tires slashed, etc. Police helocopters circling with spotlights at 4am was terribly unsettling. One of my friends had 3 bikes stolen, and was also mugged on his way home one day.

Parking- Extremely crowded and tenants consistantly park in fire lanes, and handicapped parking spaces with no punishment for their actions. My car was spotless before I moved to Auvers and Orlando, and now I have my car is covered in dents, dings, scrapes and scratches.

Appearance/Upkeep- There's a lawn crew doing cleanup every other day, sometimes multiple days in a row, so the place always looks excellent when you visit. But only during the major months when they recieve alot of traffic. Early in the year when everyone is already moved in, the grass gets extremely long, branches everywhere, and the pond's fountains only work about half the time, so when you leave your apartment, the air reeks of mold and mildew after the pond sat stagnant for days.

Management and Office Staff- Absolutely terrible. We noticed that the main office cycles through employees every few months. There is no communication between office staff, and messages can go days without response. Staff members tend to "forget" alot and appear to just skate by with everything. Terribly unhappy. Good luck actually getting a hold of someone there.

Maintenance- The air conditioning in our apartment was not functional upon moving in, and after 3 messages with the business staff, it was repaired two weeks after movein. One of the bathroom fans was not operational from the movein date, and maintenance told us "We can't fix that. They don't make those anymore. Sorry."

Condition of Unit- Our apartment was a disaster area the day we moved in. Paint was all over the place, paper was peeling off cabinets, metal doors for washer and dryer were dented and banged up, and the bath tub had to be repainted, but wasn't repainted until 3 days *after* we moved in.

Noise Level- Walls are paper thin. Heard booming bass at 4am constantly. Roommate turned on his computer in his bedroom one day around noon, and as soon as the Windows jingle finished playing, a neighbor one unit up began stomping on the floor. Constant scratching *inside* the walls at night made it near impossible to sleep on some nights. Didn't really want to know what was in there...

Overall- Made living in Orlando for 14 months absolutely miserable. I had college classes at night, and would constantly look over my shoulder as I walked to and from the apartment. Crime is out of hand, totally incompetant business office. Don't be fooled by the pretty scenery. If at all possible, live outside of Winter Park. From what I hear, the other complexes aren't anything to shout about either.
