Great Experience (5 years and counting) ( over a year ago )

Our building 6 has been nothing but extreamely quiet. My only noise complaint was one neighbor who pulled the fire alarm on the building a few times. That tenant was not in the complex for very long, I don't know if they left or were evicted. This only happened twice in 5 years.
Regarding the hurricane, I am pretty surprised how self centered the previous poster was. For those who did not live in Florida during that period, the hurricane affected a LOT of people in central florida. Most were FAR more in need of emergency help than some person with water on their floor. The apartment complex was not given any notice on the evictions as it was not their call to make as to which apartments were condemned.
We had some minor flooding during the hurricane and some damage to our patio door when a tree flew into our building. We were not condemned however. The worst of it was losing power for 10 VERY hot days. Again no fault of the complex, as they simply had to wait till the power company restored power. We just had bad luck in losing the line in 4 places between us and the power mains.
As the condemned apartments are renovated, the complex is moving people out of the lesser damaged ones and into the newly renovated ones. We were just recently moved ourselves. We moved further away from the washer and dryer, and without asking for it they moved in a washer and dryer for a year to compensate. The normal rental fee for washer and dryer is $35 a month, so it was a nice gesture. Plus a free month rent for the trouble of moving and they paid all moving fees and arranged the movers. We were very picky about what apartments we wanted and they were quite patient in waiting till one that fit our needs opened up (we need first floor, wanted away from street noise, a decent patio view, and a specific floor layout).
Maintenance has been responsive when we bother to call them. We probably should call them more often, as we have just put up with some things for a long time. The hot water tap in the bathroom was giving us some trouble for awhile, and when it finally broke, we called. Instead of just fixing the handle they gave us a whole new sink.
I want to complain about not having air conditioning in either apartment the day we moved, but it was really just horribly bad luck. Our apartment had a water line burst in the wall, shorting out the AC controls the day before the move, and the new apartment's external AC unit was damaged in a storm the day of the move.
The groundskeeping is nice, but their sprinkler system is constantly getting damaged and often ends up watering the parking lots. Normally this would really upset me as a waste of water, but they take their sprinkler water from a lake on the property so it is not taking away and potable water and is coming from a renewable source replenished by frequent rains. I really like the amount of trees on the property, it feels far less artificial than most of the other complexes I have visited in the area with stupid palm trees everywhere. That always annoys me since that type of palm was NEVER native to florida would not even survive well here (too much rain for the root structure) on it's own. The hurricane took down many trees and the replaced some, but not all. We still have more trees by far than most other complexes in the area.
The condition of the first unit I moved into 5 years ago was very nice, with only minor complaints like poor sealing around the patio door. Anoles (small lizards) used to come occasionally but I really happen to like them so I never complained as I think they are cool. Later on I got ferrets, and the predator scent kept them from coming in. The next year the externals were fixed and they noticed the bad seal and fixed it while I was gone at work without me knowing it.
Once we moved to our new place, it is pretty much immaculate. The shower curtain sucks, but I will just buy a new one anyway (I like the bowed out kind instead of straight). The painters painted over the botton edge of the bedroom windows as well which was stupid and required some effort to open them the first time. The external of this building isn't as great. The prior owners just have had a big dog, as the center support for the patio door is pretty chewed on the outside bottom, and the metal railing is pretty rusted. We pointed this out and they told us our building was scheduled for a full exterior rebuilding this summer. If they do the same things they did on our first building I will have not complaints.
Overall I have been quite happy with the apartment complex and their responsiveness. The nitpicks I list here are over a 5 year period, keep that in mind.

Chatham Landing is a very quiet and beautiful community. The office staff was very helpful in any assistance that I needed and I would absolutly recommend this property to anyone!

For the most part it has been great living here. The staff are friendly and the maintenance men always come to fix things promptly. The only problem I've had is that the pools are sometimes both closed. It was also I problem getting a key to the gym, but other than that it has been a quiet and nice community.
