Review for Inlet Bay At Gateway Apartments

As a current tenant, I would like to honestly forewarn anyone looking into moving here.

*Parking: It is very difficult to try and find a parking spot (imagine trying to when its raining, you have groceries and a infant.) All of the spots are constantly taken and majority of people have to make their own spots by the pools or curbs.
*Noise: Like most apartments, you can commonly hear noise through the walls. For us it was more like the neighbor above us awake at 2 am. You knew exactly where they were walking to with each step, along with their dog.
*Grounds & Safety: It is pretty well lit at night. Though there are bushes everywhere and with as much vandalism and robberies that have taken place here (my husbands motorcycle was stolen along with numerous others) the bushes are so big and tree's are not cut back. It would make it absolutely impossible to even see anyone.
*Construction: I almost had to restrain myself from laughing here. The place looks nice however, there are many things your eyes will miss. For example: the ceiling leaking & starting to cave in, however they just painted KILLS over it for a quick fix to be able to show the apartment.
*Maintenance: The maintenance guys are extremely nice and have helped me numerous times. Too bad they could not fix the ceiling & roof for me!
*Staff: The staff here are like car salesmen. They are overly nice & accommodating until you rent from them. Then they don't want to hear your problems.

**Overall: My husband and I moved into a 2/2 in January 2009. The complex looked great with the pools & hot tub, along with fitness center. The apartments were pretty roomy & seemed decently priced as well. Everyone seems to own 2 or more vehicles here which takes up a lot of the parking. The noise, maintenance or parking was never our biggest concern.
In the end of may, started hurricane season so lots of rain was dealt with. We came home to a drenched apartment one afternoon. The ceiling was damp in 4 different spots, even in our bedroom. Our couch was completely wet & water all over the floors even dripping down the wall. We alerted the front office, maintenance obviously cannot deal with this, they said a contractor had to be sent out. A week goes by, still nothing. We contact them again, was told the window in the apartment above us was left open. (Then how did it leak on the total opposite side of the apartment') We already knew this was all BS. It is now mid-September of '09 and we are still dealing with this issue. Black mold has started growing in our ceiling in various places. They were willing to come in and paint KILLS over one spot and cut out another in the ceiling but never fix the root of this problem. And what do ya know, it leaked again! More mold came & we are still fighting with the managers. This place is a joke, the ceiling is sagging! By the way, we have also had a ant & roach problem & the pools along with hot tub hardly are ever working.
I am already worried about living here with being pregnant and seeing more black mold. My husband has gotten sick repeatedly with upper respiratory infections. Though the manager offered us a one time payoff of $200 to shut up! The only way to check for mold is to call the Environmental Health Division at 727.507.4336 and talk to Stan. Or call Codes Assistance of Pinella's County. (Unfortunately even though black mold can kill, there are no laws to protect us from it!)
