Apartment Reviews for St. Lucie Place
If only I had known:

Upon seeing the outside of these apartments, you would think this was a really nice apartment complex. But going through your 1st walk thru, be sure to REALLY inspect these apartments. They are in need of some MAJOR upgrades. Kitchen cabinets are cracked/peeling and painted over, the carpets were painted on (if this place has been more than touched up since 1997). Also, getting maintenance to take care of an issue with your vintage appliances is worse than a root canal. The office staff changes on a weekly basis, being that they can't get anyone to stay, and everyone they hire is great if you're a new tenant... although, when you're a current tenant, you can HEAR the agitation in your voice when you call for repairs. If you're on the 1st floor, as I am... BEWARE. Even a 2 year old walking you can hear plain as day. Although the neighborhood is nice and quiet, and a good place for kids to play, as long as you keep them away from the drug dealers in the next building. Basically, this is an OK place if you're on a budget (and don't watch cable for an addl $65 a month, and you are not able to apply for ANY specials from the cable company). But be ready for lots of repairs... Because they dare not REPLACE any of those vintage appliances. (Washer,Dryer,Dishwasher are being worked on every month, rather than replace). And the income restrictions? That's a green flag for slum. Come see for yourself! St Lucie Slum is NOT the place to be!

Due to the fct the air conditioners were never maintained, your electric bill is sky high. I had FPL out twice for a home energy survey...first time- they corroded rusted washer and dryer was in need of replacement, and a continous leak of 100 degree hot water had so rotted the sub floor it was about to fall into the apartment below me, I also sw water leaks in the ceilings of neighbors in the same area. Second time, FPL stated the a/c was leaking freon and the coils in the HVAC closed were so corroded and moldy the had to rebild the whole closet.
Then there are the bedbugs, roaches and rats, the Dept of health and HUD have fined them multiple times.
I cannot tell you how many dealers, prostitutes live there, they love them because they can pay the rent on time! The coroner is always there picking up the overdoes..and I can't even tell you how many times the SWAT team had to be called.
You can hear your neighbor urinating upstairs and heaven forbid you have a couple above you...you'd think they'd be going right through your ceiling!
