The pros:
-Walking distance from campus (or only two blocks from a TalTran bus-stop) -Shared backyard with privacy fence and a fire pit (which are fantastic for late-fall tailgating) -The only towing that ever takes place is done at the request of the residents (in my time here, I have yet to see a car towed)
And the cons....oh, the cons:
-Maintenance, who actually do a decent job when you manage to get them to come out, require about 15 to 20 requests (not an exaggeration) to finally have them do so. -Security leaves much to be desired, as it is practically nonexistent. People cut through the lot instead of taking the sidewalk, occasionally vomiting on our lawn. One unit last year had thousands of dollars worth of property (computers, IPODs, digital cameras, et al) burgled in the middle of a weekday afternoon. The parking lot lights have been out since some drunkards smashed them half a year ago, so the lot itself is completely dark at night (see previous comment Re: maintenance). -The carpet was so filthy when we moved in that even now I have reservations about walking barefoot on it. -Numerous nail-holes in the walls, which probably haven't been uniformly painted (i.e., one color/several healthy coats, not just varying patches over damaged portions) for several years. -A/C unit is ancient and energy-inefficient. Cooling the apartment in summer months costs a small fortune. -Due to its vicinity to Bellevue and Lipona, practically all traffic on those streets can be well heard, which isn't a problem if you can sleep through rap blared at unhealthy levels or trucks with their mufflers removed roaring uphill fifty feet from your window. -As we came to discover, the plot of land on which the apartments are situated doesn't drain well at all when it rains heavily, which promotes high mosquito population in spring and summer and could prove troublesome the next time a hurricane passes through. -Lawn/landscape care takes place on a monthly basis, not weekly, like most places. -High volume of cars and pedestrians on game days make it virtually impossible to get anywhere by car
I think that about does it. To put it succinctly, Bellevue Pines can be a lot of fun, given your outlook, but I don't think any amount of fun is worth the sacrifices in quality required by living here.
