I lived here in the spring and summer of 2006, recently after all the first floor apartments had been renovated. My next door neighbor in the one bedroom apartment to the left of me was a young woman about my age with FIVE children, ages 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and an infant. that pretty much describes a lot of the people who live here. there was a creepy guy who would knock on my door and ask me for cigarettes, and there was a homeless man who frequented the parking lot, always demanding that people buy him cheeseburgers. the guest parking lot is insanely tiny and impossible to navigate, and usually full. besides that, they are VERY tow happy. within a day of my moving in, the toilet clogged up and overflowed, flooding the entire bathroom and it even reached under the carpet about 6 or 7 feet into the bedroom. as a result, my closet and everything in it, as well as my entire bedroom, smelled like foul mildew for the next 8 months. last, and definitely worst of all, i had a HUGE COCKROACH PROBLEM. and by huge, i mean there were hundreds, and they got EVERYWHERE. and i am a very neat person. by march, the exterminator and i were on a first name basis because he was in my apartment every other week, and even he was baffled at my infestation. what Carolina Square has is a smaller kind of Cockroach called "German Roaches" that are extremely hard to get rid of, and infestations can take years and years of spraying to die out. It was seriously horrible, I didn't feel safe in the apartment, being a 100 pound white girl living alone in the middle of "French Town" which is so ghetto that the Boys and Girls Club is boarded up! True, it is very close to campus, but it's on the wrong side of Tennessee Street. Bugs, the Homeless, and disgusting living conditions, not to mention LOUD people at the pool at all hours (and the sound echoes so it's especially rough on the first floor!) is SO NOT WORTH THE MONEY.
DO NOT RECOMMEND.
