My apartment flooded because of faulty piping under my bathroom sink. I lost a lot of property and 200 gallons of water were pumped from my apartment. I was not at home when it occurred, and no one called me. When I arrived back, I found my apartment in a disarray and my cats terrified. I was then made to feel that the bursting pipe was my fault and that I should feel guilty for my neighbor's lost property.
I was promised only $50 compensation for my utilities (fans and dehumidifiers were operating from my electricity). I was told my apartment was livable although I had no bathroom sink, a hole in my wall, 100% humidity in the apartment and fans/dehumidifiers running throughout. I was given no compensation on my rent. It took over a week to reinstall my vanity. When I returned to the apartment after the vanity installation, I found my clothes in the bathroom to be sitting in approximately 4 inches of standing water not previously present in the bathroom. No one could explain how this happened.
Additionally, they lost my security deposit/1st months rent/pet deposit/application fee, and instead of asking me to provide proof that I paid, posted an eviction notice on my door. This occurred during a management transition.
Finally, a UPS package intended for me was delivered to the wrong address. The tenant signed for, used and damaged the expensive gift, then refused to admit she had it. I eventually got it back (damaged) with no apology. She kept my billing information (including my credit card number). I was forced to cancel my credit card.
I will grudglingly fulfill my lease; however, I will certainly not resign.
The office staff is very friendly, though. Even the property manager is friendly. However, their record keeping is horrible, maintenance staff is mean and unhelpful and tenants are sometimes less than desireable.
Nice racquetball courts, though.
