Its no great secret that landlords will say almost anything to get you to sign the lease. And after you have, they have almost no reason to measure up to those promises, because the only choice you have in the matter would be to leave and pay those same exorbitant move-in fees elsewhere, allowing them to do the same to next poor schmuck. These are some of the lies that you may hear when looking at the Greenbriar (and by extension all of the Jackson Properties): - The Property is very quiet, most of our tenants are grad students! While I cant say exactly who lives here, I can definitely speak for the guys who run a car washing business out of one of the parking lots, or the band who hold their practices with their doors wide open, and the big truck brigade who love to blast heavy metal every weekend until the cops come. Lets not even talk about some of the surrounding neighborhood who all seem to regard the propertys pool as a community resource.
- Theres tons of parking available, Im not even sure how many of our tenants have cars. If you see the property during the day on a weekday, dont be surprised if there arent very many cars in the lot. Instead, come back that night, where youll be hard pressed to find a space even with your permit. And forget about having your friends come to visit you: the visitor lot is only 10 spaces, next to a dumpster thats always overflowing, and they'll be towed for parking anywhere else.
- All of our units are very nice, most have new stuff! The model youll be shown will be great, the unit you actually receive, not so much. Ive had a minimum of one broken appliance at all times, and have spoken to other tenants who say much the same stoves that always burn food, washing machines that stay broken down for weeks on end, toilets that only flush one try in three.
- Were very easy to get along with. Theyll try to get you into your apartment as late as possible, and out as early as possible, theyre very frequently unavailable by phone, and dont be surprised if they ask you nosy questions about your neighbors when youre dropping off your rent check.
