New Management Blunders

When I first moved to Londontown, I had to sit on a waiting list for 3 months. While the apartment was old, the old management took great care of who was allowed to rent, trying to keep it a family complex, and control the student ratio. Rent was low, causing us to overlook many of the problems with the apartment. We had holes in the walls from the previous resident that were not patched, no seals on any windows or doors, a tub that was peeling and lead paint on the walls. But we overlooked all of this because of the community atmosphere. All of your neighbors were very friendly, and some had been there for decades, a marker of how well they were doing. They were at a 100% capacity.

Then everything changed. The next year rent went up 100 dollars! They wanted to move everyone to "market value" rent. I can contribute this solely to greed on the owners part, one which he must be kicking himself for now. In one of the stupidest business decisions in a long time, he took a complex that was a 100% full with a very high satifaction rating, to complex that is 70% full with nearly constant turn over. Now they resort to gimicks like first month free rent, referalls, and other desperate attempts to get renters back. My apartment was still falling apart, and when I went to discuss this with the new management, since I was now paying a $100 more a month, I was told only ONE of my problems would be fixed, they could not afford to fix all of them! I was floored! I had already resigned, as I was not prepared to reroot at that time, but now I had to live in a apartment thats falling apart, pay the same rent as acrossed the street, where I onced lived and the quality is MUCH better, but hated the atmosphere, and deal with horrible neighbors who would come in, make alot of noise, trash their apartment, and move out. Shortly after we were told they couldnt afford to get our apartment (and a few others after talking to our old neighbors) to decent condition, they completely redid the club house, front office, the pools, the parking lot, and all of the empty apartments! In otherwords, if you become a resident, you will get NOTHING after you get in to your apartment, so you better get the best one you can at the start.

I would NOT recommend this apartment complex anymore, and I see this turning either into a student complex, or low income housing in the near future. Great job owner!
