LETTER TO COASTAL PROPERTIES

To whom it may concern:

I am a VERY unhappy tenant at Campus Edge Apartments! Since the first day that I have toured the property I have been lied to! Initially, one of my major two concerns were the noise levels and the television service providers. The property manager, Christina, maliciously miss lead me informing me that these apartments were sound proof and that she was unsure of the television service provider was through velocity which a LIE, this property has Dish Network and the noise level is very disheartening! The windows in these apartments are so thin I can hear peoples keys jingling as they walk by! The noise and drunken patron presence from the clubs is atrocious and I specifically discussed these issues with Christina b4 signing the lease, at which time she informed me that the apartments are sound proof because they are concrete! Just these two factors alone would have most definitely influenced my decision weather or not to sign a lease here, and my choice would have been not too!
After I moved in my closet shelf fell within days of me moving in! This incident cracked my glass closet door! I reported this to my property manager and the closet was fixed a few days later improperly again! Due to the faulty installation, my closet shelf fell down AGAIN within days! Luckily my parents were in town for a visit and my stepfather temporarily fixed it so that I could actually unpack my things! Last Friday, 9/4/2009, I noticed that the shelf was beginning to fall once again so I brought it to the property manager’s, Christina, attention along with a second complaint about my rusted burners on the stove that smoke, smell, and are rusted! (I would like it to be noted that I complained about this problem initially mid august and a work order was never filled out!) She came in and investigated my stove and informed me that she would make a work order and exited my apartment without investigating the closet. As we were walking back to the office I also brought up the issue of the cracked closet door due to the closet shelf falling the first time, and my fears that the door may break the next time. She then told me rudely and disrespectfully, “You need to not pile all kinds of things and clothes on MY shelf!” Christina, the property manager, was extremely out of line for this statement! I tried to explain to her that it is not the load of the shelf bit it’s the fact the wall has minimal studs and the shelf is consistently being installed improperly, the evidence of this is written over the closet wall by the numerous holes in the wall patched and un-patched! Christina’s tone and her statement were completely out of line, Especially because she did not even see what I had in my closet because she chose not to look at it. When we returned to the rental office I asked for copies of all my work orders and for the telephone number to someone at coastal properties because I did not want to deal with her any more! We set an appoint for Monday at 2:00pm because I had class at 3:30pm meaning I had to leave at about 3:00pm.
Christina and the maintenance man arrived at my apartment 10 minutes late. They addressed my issue with the island in the kitchen first with no problem. After that, they moved to the stove. The maintenance man took my burners out of the stove and he and Christina left a returned shortly with the SAME burners! Christina claimed that they were cleaned, another lie! My burners on my stove are still rusted, dirty and smell! By now it is 2:30, keep in mind the previous Friday when we made the appointment I informed Christina, the Property Manager that I had to leave at 3:00pm for my class! They move into my bedroom, I point out the problems with my shelf and the improper equipment used to install the shelf as well as the holes in the wall from previous incidents. Christina then informed me that she and the Maintenance Man need to go to home depot to purchase supplies to properly fix my shelves in the closet. This upset me because I took time out of my day to be there so that my issues could be addressed and they were not, as previously agreed. We rescheduled an appointment of the next day, Wednesday (today), at 1:00pm.
Once again Christina and the maintenance man arrived late AGAIN at about 1:20pm! This is VERY unprofessional, which seems like a trend with Christina. They came in and the Maintenance Man began work on repairing my closet shelves while Christina observed! After he finished the first shelf, Christina then left and as she was exiting my apartment she informed me that I was not to speak to the Maintenance Man about any thing and that all issues needed to be directed to her. This was a little strange to me but it would not have been that bad if it weren’t for her rude tone. She spoke to me as if I was some foolish child. (Also I had a friend with me so that there would be no “he say/she say”, this woman is rude for no reason and I can produce a signed affidavit if necessary!)





Also on September first I was awoken early in the morning by Christina, the property manager. With her receipt book in hand she proceeded to demand the rent money! Now, when I signed my lease I was informed that I have until the 3rd of every month to pay my rent, was that a lie too? I do not deserve to be harassed in my own home! I am very dissatisfied with this apartment, this property manager, and the overall apartment community!

AND I DID NOT GET A REPLY FROM ANYONE BECAUSE I DID NOT INDICATE THAT I WANTED AN IMMEDIATE RESPONSE
