Review for Southern Oaks Apartments

I lived in this complex for two years. It offers 1 and 2 bedrooms with 1 bath at an affordable price. The places are not big (2 bed, 750 sq ft) but the management is nice and AVAILABLE IN PERSON. Problems are corrected within 48 hours. The trash people don't come often enough and the buildings themselves look to be cracking. The office will screw you out of your deposit, so expect to lose that $300. They say it's not clean enough, or things were damaged. The 1st floor apartments have mold problems, which the office says is your responsibility to keep in control and cleaned off walls. This is an older place, so no new appliances or great upgrades are available. The grounds are nothing exciting, so I guess you could call it pretty well maintained. The surrounding neighborhood only gets a 4. I have known some problems with theft (2 bikes and my apartment got broken into in broad daylight).
