Not spectacular, but (esp. for the price) not too bad, either. The place has really perked up from when I first moved there, coinciding with the change in management. There are some unruly elements (noise chief among them), but it's a college town and not worse than any other place in my estimation. As for crime its pretty safe--my roommate had his car broken into about two years ago but he parked in an obscure lot with no lights (not a good idea). Speaking of parking, where I lived (the K Building), that lot was TERRIBLE. But it seems parking is adequate elsewhere. Maintenance was meh, but we didn't really have any outstanding problems in our apt. As for the bus, that was really handy and during the school year comes twice on the hour until 6, then the UGA buses start service after 7.
As a note, it seems that during the summer it gets worse: ie more noise, more 'undesirables' at the pool at all hours of the day and night, etc.
