Apartment Review for Riverview

I relocated to Atlanta from Birmingham and utilized an online apartment search to help me find a place to live. The photos of this place were great and the fact that an $8 million renovation had just taken place sounded like a dream come true. It was certainly a lot of square footage for the money....NOW I KNOW WHY!!! <P>
Let's just say that the management doesn't do ANYTHING to make this place nice. The dumpster (compactor) is always piled for 30 feet or so outside of the dumpter area. It's such a filthy mess and you can't get anywhere near the dumpster to put your trash away properly. You would assume that this was a rare occurrence, but rest assurred that it happens EVERY SINGLE DAY! They have even hired guys to come up there and clean it up each day rather than holding the tenants accountable and making them live like CLEAN people. The apartment was renovated, but not very well. NO OUTLETS are right. They are cheaply done and the plugs won't even stay in them. One in the kitchen even caught on fire! The light switches are all wired wrong and nothing works what it should. The front porch light has NEVER worked and they can't seem to fix it. The diswasher was put in leaning backwards; therefore you can't just open it and load or unload it. You have to take one hand and hold it open the entire time or it will shut while you are in it. The water bugs are unbelievable! They don't regularly spray (and they don't tell you that); therefore you have to request it EVERY week if you want the bugs to get taken care of. The hot water heater leaked and I discovered the worst smell in my apartment. It was later determined that the leak caused molding in the carpet and floor and I had MUSHROOMS GROWING IN MY CARPET. Now, if you research this problem on the internet, it will say that you MUST completely remove the carpet to eliminate the mold spores from spreading. What did they do? They cut out the padding and put an industrial fan on the carpet to dry it, then came back 3 days later and put a new piece of padding under the same MOLDY CARPET. My A/C return closet was the nastiest thing that I have ever seen. It literally has SHEETS of dust so thick that it looked like a blanket. Kind of like your lint trap in the dryer when you clean it out. It was horrific. I couln't even imagine that I had been breathing that mess! They recently sent out a memo stating that you can't leave any trash bags on your patio or they will charge you $25 per pag for picking it up. Isn't that kind of funny when you can't even get CLOSE to the dumpster? Although, I do think it's a good thing that they are "pretending" that they will do something about the trash issue. <P>
BEWARE of this place. I was told that they had security in each unit and that ADT could simply come out and set up your account. ADT came out and determined that NOTHING was wired to that panel at all; therefore there was NO security. Within 1 month of my complaining about this, they had ALL panels removed from the apartments and now we have giant plastic panels on our walls. <P>
They won't even take a check for our rent. It COSTS me money to pay my rent each month by being forced to get a money order. <P>
This place is a joke! It COULD be nice, but the management sucks and I assure you that they couldn't care any less than they currently do! <P>
DO NOT MOVE HERE NO MATTER HOW GOOD IT SOUNDS! YOU'LL BE MISERABLE!!!!!!!! <P>
